Do not eat here.
The ONLY reason this place has such a hugh average rating, is because they buy fake reviews, risking legal action from Google.
I was about to rate this place 2/5 until I overheard the waitress loudly dropping inappropriate comments to her collegue about us, which I could understand with my limited knowledge in Italian. And they charged €2 per person which is not stated anywhere on the menu, nor did they inform us about it.
Judging by the waitress' comment about us, I suspect we received some sort of "Fawlty Towers special treatment" due to booking with a 50% discount using TheFork, treating us like 2nd class riff-raff. All the other tables were given bread to their dishes, not us. We were not asked whether we want any wine to drink, nor offered a wine list. When I asked about a glass of wine, the waitress offered the house wine with a yes or no question. Not even presenting the options.
After we finished, they did not offer coffee nor ask if we want any dessert.
We ordered two pasta dishes, both of them tasted below average and as if the chef used cheap low-grade canned mushrooms bought at a discount from some supermarket. I had a glass of their red wine which was quite tasteless.
As I understand it, this restaurant is of the same chain/franchise as Hostaria Pizzeria da Nonna Nella, also located in Trastevere. They have identical menus, except for the brand and logotype with the same dishes and prices. Unfortunately, that's where the simularities end. Hostaria Pizzeria da Nonna Nella was one of the best restaurants we ate at during our three week stay in Italy. The food was excellent and the service superb.
Mastro Fidelio was, without any doubt, the worst one, even at a...
Read moreI booked a table for my birthday and I ask them for gluten free options. They didn’t answer my request and when we arrived they didn’t have any options. I was okay with that. We could choose another plates to eat but the staff was terrible. Very disorganized and rude. They took out the menu from our tables without asking us because they ran out of them and the waiter who did it said “you’ll be able to remember the name of the plates at this time” and when they came to take the order of course we weren’t sure about the name of the plates. One of us ordered a salad at the same time as we all ordered food and the salad never came. When we told them about this, they wrote it down and ordered it at that moment when the rest of us were already eating. The salad was taking more than we expected and we decided to cancel it because we had all finished eating. The waiter answered that it was our problem if we couldn’t wait 15 minutes, but at that moment more than half an hour had passed and they never ordered the salad at the first moment. He was very rude. I am not complaining about the food because we ate well but the service was a mess and one of the waiters...
Read moreIt can get a little overwhelming in the Trastevere restaurant scene especially when you don't want a traditional meal. After visiting many restaurants and looking over menu options we decided to circle back and have our evening meal here. Two meals were ordered. 1. margherita pizza w/ Aperol and 2. Burger (well done no pink excellent) and fries (not included) w/ a virgin mojito.
They ran out of basil so I had a cheese pizza and was not informed of this prior to serving. There was green leaves in the mojito but it was not spearmint. Originally ordered the Chianti but switched to Aperol and should have stayed with my first choice.
Great music, clean bathroom and wait staff was friendly, just wish they communicated they were out of basil, I would have...
