The hotel is clean, the rooms are a good size with very small en suite (private) bath, each with a coffee maker, TV with Italian channels, large windows that open and air conditioning. Note that you must climb to the 3rd floor to reach the hotel, there is no elevator. Sylvie is just as everyone has said -- she is extremely friendly, very helpful to tourists, speaks very good English, and is definitely the heart and soul of Residenza Storica. The location is great, right by the river, walking distance to many major tourist attractions, on a small (not very pretty) side street. The neighborhood is fun to walk around, plenty of shops and restaurants and a small grocery store adjacent. There are no overnight staff at the hotel and very limited amenities, but if you are looking for an affordable, clean, friendly, and accessible spot in Rome, I highly recommend staying here. I...
Read moreSylvia was very helpful through emails before I arrived. Our son is in Trestevere and this was a walk over the Ponte Sisto to him. We walked to all sights from this B&B. Very convienent to Campo. 3rd floor walk up with A/C. Breakfast was make it yourself in your room with electric kettle. Nice coffee machine in entrance room but no one to run it. Good if you are independent as we never saw another sole as we came & went. We got a map from a hotel on the same street [Hotel Ponte Sisto]. Room was spotless & nice size but missing a few things. Comfortable chair(s) with reading light would have been a plus. Bed is the true problem in our room #1. Springs under mattress squeak loudly. Even to roll over was loud. This is our sole reason we would not go back...
