⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Roman Pizza Tour with Benedetta

We had the pleasure of joining a pizza-focused food tour in Rome guided by Benedetta, and it was hands down one of the highlights of our entire trip to Italy. The tour began at Piazza della Suburra, right in the charming Monti neighborhood, which was especially convenient since we were staying just a few blocks away. From the moment we met her, Benedetta was warm, welcoming, and full of energy. She made everyone feel comfortable and engaged right away.

The experience took us to three fantastic pizzerias and a delightful gelato shop in the heart of historic Rome. At each stop, we tasted a different style of authentic Roman pizza:

🍕 Montanara — delicious little fried dough “mountains,” topped with rich tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella.

🍕 Pizza al Taglio — the classic Roman pizza baked in long rectangular trays, served by the slice with incredible toppings.

🍕 Pizza Tonda Romana — at Trieste Pizza, where we enjoyed the perfectly thin, crispy round pizzas that Rome is famous for.

What made this tour truly exceptional was Benedetta’s wonderful storytelling. She seamlessly blended fascinating pieces of history about Roman pizza, the Monti district, and local culture into the experience. As someone who loves history, this was such a pleasant surprise.

Each stop included delicious beverages—local wines from the Abruzzo region, refreshing spritzes, and craft beers for the adults, while the kids enjoyed fresh juices. Though the tour was described as a “light” tasting, we were all happily stuffed well before the final stop (which didn’t stop me from continuing—I can always eat more pizza!).

The portions were generous, everything was beautifully presented, and the variety of flavors was outstanding. Benedetta’s friendliness, knowledge, and passion for Roman food made this the perfect way to kick off our vacation.

If you’re visiting Rome and want to immerse yourself in authentic pizza traditions with a guide who feels like an old friend, this tour is absolutely not...

Rome Food Tour: Campo de’Fiori, Ghetto, Trastevere

We had the pleasure of taking a food tour with Lisa as our guide, and she made the experience truly unforgettable. From the very beginning, it was clear that Lisa’s knowledge of Roman cuisine wasn’t just academic — it came from first-hand experience, trial and error, and a genuine passion for food. She shared not only the history and background of each dish but also personal insights about how to spot truly authentic Roman fare — an invaluable skill in a city filled with tourist traps.

Throughout the tour, Lisa pointed out subtle but important details to look for when ordering classic Roman dishes like cacio e pepe, carbonara, or supplì, helping us understand what separates a high-quality, traditional version from something less genuine. She didn’t shy away from telling us what to avoid and why — all shared with the warmth of someone who clearly wants visitors to have the best experience possible.

One of the things we appreciated most was that every stop on the tour was a place Lisa personally endorsed, not just for the tour but in her own day-to-day life. These weren’t generic tourist spots — they were often family-run establishments, some of which had been passed down for multiple generations. You could feel the tradition, care, and pride in each bite.

Beyond her food knowledge, Lisa’s personality made the tour feel like spending the afternoon with a very well-informed friend. She was personable, engaging, and genuinely interested in making sure everyone had a great time. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and it was clear that she not only knows her stuff — she loves sharing it with others.

Overall, Lisa gave us far more than a food tour — she gave us a deeper understanding and appreciation of Roman culinary culture. It was one of the highlights of our trip, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting...

This food tour was such a fun, flavorful, and surprisingly educational experience! From the moment we met our guide Luca, we knew we were in good hands. He was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the city’s history but also full of energy and humor. Every story he told added meaning to what we were tasting — from the origins of certain dishes to how local traditions have evolved over time.

What we appreciated most was how Luca answered all of our (sometimes ridiculous) questions with so much enthusiasm and patience. You could tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and his passion for food and culture was contagious. Each stop along the tour felt thoughtfully chosen — offering generous portions that showcased both authentic local favorites and hidden gems we would’ve never found on our own.

By the end, we were happily full, better informed, and completely charmed by both the food and Luca’s storytelling. It’s rare to find a tour that blends flavor, fun, and history so seamlessly. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting — come hungry, come curious, and get ready to fall in love with the city one...

I had previously done a food tour in Rome but this one explored different areas. We really enjoyed all of the food as well as all of the history provided by our guide, Luca. Go hungry as you will not need to eat afterwards.
