Romeo al Babuino — Hotel in Rome

Excellent location. Very friendly owners of this guest house. We stayed for one night in suite Armanda. The guest house itself isn’t spacious it’s in an apartment with a corridor an then the suites. ||The corridor is great though; a nespresso machine + kettle with many tea options and sweets. It’s on via del babuino between Piazza del Popolo and Spanish steps opposite an almost 24hr pizza take away\gelato place. On lots of high end brands along the street.||The young staff boy who was there said we needed to check out next day at 10:30am! However on booking.com it said 11am. Weird musty smell in the unit. Room is rather rundown and old. Walls are dirty with marks. Shower area has a weird design where it's above floor level but has no door so every time you shower, the floor will get really wet. When we arrived, there was no soap and it only came 6 hours after we asked for some. There was also no hot water and we called and texted the host only to get a short reply after an hour. We couldn't take a shower that first night because the water was freezing. There was no explanation from the host, no apology, not even an update on it having been fixed if we hadn't asked. Asked for a kettle and it came but it was dirty. We didn't bother complaining much to the host because we know it would be pointless seeing how inhospitable they are and the lack of care they show towards the guests' comfort.
