Awful experience.
Walked in for lunch, as it was not that busy. Once we had been sat, nobody took our order for 20mins (we had to prompt this). Around 20mins later, one of our drinks arrived only. By this point, other tables that arrived afterwards now had food in front of them. The ordering and attentiveness clearly haphazard. Had to prompt for 2nd person's drink. Despite ordering salad + fries, and the other ordering carbonara + suppli, a cold plate of fries now arrives along with the suppli, as if they are starters. 1hour and 10minutes after arriving, our salad and carbonara were brought out. Around a minute later my wife says incredulously "what is that!?" as we see a bug crawling from below the lettuce leafs, up towards the edge of the bowl. It was approximately 3cm in length.
Told staff and they took the salad away immediately. We got up to leave or at least have some kind of a resolution. Our waitress could be seen inside speaking to a man in a suit (probably the manager), though he did not come out. Another staff member instead came over and started to apologise to me, instead of my wife. He then suggested that maybe the bug landed in the salad from one of the plants (that we weren't sitting anywhere near).
Probably the worst dining experience we've ever had.
Needless to say, we...
Read moreATTENTION TO THOSE WHO ARE LOOKING AT THIS RESTAURANT AS AN OPTION & STOP TO READ ALL OF THIS: This restaurant is absolutely amazing. Don’t be discouraged by looks. On the outside they have sitting areas with gas lanterns to give some heat when it’s cold or chilly but go inside, down the stairs and it’s an entire restaurant (gorgeously done) underground! It’s a quaint, stylish & superb service! We stayed at a B&B that was literally 10 steps from our hotel and we stumbled upon this restaurant. We were so fortunate and lucky that we ended up eating there FOUR TIMES! Amazingly delicious food (pasta, pizza, soups, galore) & just an absolutely superb waiters & staff. Especially when Ingnazio, Marco or Islam is working (I was super sad we didn’t get to say goodbye to Ingnazio!). I left my backpack there one night with all my belongings in it and thankfully ran back to the restaurant to get it and they had held onto it for me for SEVERAL hours! Overall the experience, the vibe, the cleanliness, the service, the food it’s all just fantastic. I recommend this Italian restaurant to anyone that is visiting Rome and in the Piazza Popolo area. Thank you Brillo for being such an amazing restaurant and having...
Read moreI usually don’t write reviews but I had to for this one. In my opinion it’s a hidden gem in the center of Rome where things tend to be a little chaotic. I came to Rome for 2 weeks and this restaurant was in my top 3 places I’ve been to. Great authentic Italian food. I’d recommend any pasta or pizza. What stood out the most to me was the service. Very polite and make you feel very comfortable as if it’s your second home. I’d recommend it for any of my friends visiting Rome. It’s truly a hidden gem close to Via del Corso. The waiters make sure everybody is safe and warn tourist about potential theft and where to keep your valuables to prevent any theft. I can’t stress enough about how great the atmosphere and the service was. Great genuine people. They don’t expect too high of a tip afterwards and since I left amazed I gave them double the amount of tip that I should have. Love this place. It changed my perspective on Rome by showing me that even if the restaurant is busy and everybody is rushing they bring your food out quick and the most polite/educated workers I’ve met during my whole visit.
