We were about to leave Venice but before or long way back decided to find a place close to the bus station to eat, didn’t have much time to check the reviews, so picked a nice-looking next to a small channel restaurant. The host lady was very nice and polite, was serving with a smile repeating “thank you” all the time which seemed to be very nice because previously we met quite indifferent waiters around Italy and Venice. But when we received a bill for our little dinner (2 pastas: squid spaghetti with shrimps and pasta Polo, black tea and alcohol-free mojito) we realized what was the reason of such extremely friendly behavior. Well, in the receipt a visitor’s fee has been added 2 eur/person (even though I didn’t see any information about this extra fee nowhere in the menu or at the table) but that’s alright, so we shouldn’t have left the tips but then already after payment I noticed that my alcohol-free mojito cost was 14 euros and this was a small glass (200ml) while at the same time the have Aperol Spritz with alcohol for 6 euros, so for me it was no sense. We didn’t have time to argue because of that, so we just left but left the place with a spoiled mood about the dinner and this place even though the food was ok, nothing special but still...

We had not been in Venice but ten minutes and SHE was not happy we had shown up for lunch. How dare we come 5,000 miles to a place called a trattoria and ask to pay for some food?
Our waitress was as condescending as she was rude. Our waitress threw our menus at us, landing on my 80 year-old mother’s arm. Our waitress was fed up with her job, her life.
And now, it was all our problem.
After suffering her eye rolls, her interruptions and her disdain at our simple questions about the menu, I needed a cigarette. When I attempted to return to my seat (and not recognizing me apparently) she literally screamed in Italian “Excuse me!!! Sir!!! Hello?!?!”
I turned and glared.
She said “go ahead” instead of “I’m sorry”.
But, alas, I was truly the sorry one.
Sorry I’d chosen this awful place. Sorry her life in the restaurant business in Venice was so difficult for her. And, most of all, sorry I ruined my family’s afternoon by showing up in the...
Read moreNot only was the food perfect (and I mean, incredible - seriously you HAVE to trust their recommendations and try their fresh sea food, the scallops are out of this world) but also, the service was the best we had the entire three days we were in Venice. So much so that we came back for our last night again because we didn’t want other restaurants to ruin our mood, as it had happened in other places the previous days.
The staff at this restaurant really made sure we had a great time, they were polite, friendly, and went beyond to make us feel welcome and help pick our food. We learned that they are true Venetians and love serving their food, and you can tell by trying their food how delicious, fresh and unique it is.
Can’t recommend this place enough, and I will certainly tell anyone visiting Venice to check this place out.
Thank you to Maximiliano and the rest of the staff for our amazing meals, and amazing...
