This is my first 1 star review, and the first time I have ever had to change hotels on arrival, it was that bad. The hotel smells strongly of damp / mold in both the reception and the room we were given. Upon arrival we opened all windows and turned on the aircon (which also smelt musty and old) and within 30 minutes our airways were irritated, and we started to cough and feel horrible. It was late at night and the last thing we wanted to do was wheel our bags back down the street and find another hotel last minute, but we had to. In trying to resolve this with the front desk and Expedia, the hotel lied constantly about the state of the room, and even claimed we said we would be coming back for the second night and they had to hire a night receptionist, despite us clearly saying we would book somewhere else. It's one of those places that's old and run down, with stubborn, arrogant management, that have zero interest in customer care. Add to that damp problem and its a recipe for a disastrous experience and no sleep. Please, please avoid, there are much better, even average places for the same price.

Nicola is the best host, very knowledgeable and kind to explain anything about Venize, its history and attractions. The room is very nice with the perfect venizean style. Has AC, mini fridge + an electric kettle. The price is very good and have the plus that is close from the train station which is convenient if you travel with children. Last but not least, the free breakfast is very nice, they offer to bring it to the room or you can enjoy it in the on premises garden. Includes: coffee, milk, hot chocolate, toasts with jam, butter or nuttela. Orange juice, and also some delicious pastries. We found the Ca Due Leoni hotel perfect for us.

Arrive by water bus. Easier to find than walking from the train station. Crea station. An "off the beaten tourist path" hotel hidden in a Piazza. There is so much history in this building with the walls being over a foot thick, you can only smile. Our room is on the second floor. Or I should say our living room and private bathroom is on the second floor and the bedroom is on the third floor. The gentleman at the front carried my luggage. Well appointed and has everything we need. Large bathroom with natural light and privacy. I will stay here again as I want to see what the rest of the rooms look like.

I had previously stayed at this hotel some 5 years ago, at which time I found it to be acceptable and, on balance, worth a recommendation. However I feel that they have failed to move with the times and have fallen behind somewhat.||The location remains ideal with the Alilaguna link to the airport only 3 minutes from the hotel and the train station an easy 5-10 minute walk. Vaporetta stops are located a convenient 2-3 minutes away as are several good restaurants.||Our bedroom was comfortable, clean and of adequate size but I was disappointed to find small areas of discoloured or flaking paintwork. I accept that it is an historic building which retains many authentic features but to maintain the decor would require little effort.||A greater disappointment is the breakfast which is served in a covered courtyard to the rear of the hotel. The setting has great potential but again, very little effort has been made to make it attractive. Apart from a choice of hot beverage the breakfast fare arrives on a tray and is restricted to orange juice, a jam-filled croissant, toast and various prepackaged biscuit-type products and preserves. The formula is much the same as a few years back but I felt that the quality had diminished. I am sure that much more appetising fare could be provided within the constraints of the hotel budget.||To conclude on a positive note I will add that the reception staff were most helpful and patient in answering questions and providing detailed tourist...
