Ristorante Casa Bonita — Restaurant in Venice

Amazing!!! The best Mediterranean meal I’ve ever had!!

After being rudely degraded at another restaurant nearby we happened to find this place and read reviews. Seeing travis’s review about how amazing it was on the same night we decided to go in and we are so happy we did!

It’s a gorgeous small Venetian restaurant , as they all are, you are seated with a small aperitif and basket of bread. For starter we chose the dried beef , cheese and rocket. It’s plenty for a sharer, so simple but perfect if you like those three ingredients.

For main I went off travis’ recommendation and had the scallops in pistachio sauce - so glad I did, literally the best pasta dish I’ve ever consumed. Mrs has the squid ink spaghetti with squid. Fresh squid here was amazing it’s not chewy like I’m used to but this was more like a slightly over cooked liver in texture.

Dessert was the white choc truffle ice cream which is as just faultless.

All in all one the best meals we’ve ever had , make sure you eat here. the portions are great as well, full bill with water, coffee and beers 74euros. We crawled home we were so full.

Ps. Don’t expect over the top in your face special treatment service, Venice isn’t like that they just let you get on with your meal in a nice...

Don't be tricked by the high ratings - I did but was greatly disappointed - very rude and unfriendly staff. We saw many empty tables and stopped outside to look at the menu. A man who looked like the owner was next to us on the phone but didn't bother to acknowledge us even after he got off the phone. Another waiter walked by and we tried to get his attention but he waved us off saying he was the bartender and couldn't help us. Several other waiters came out and were standing by the door, looked at us, then directly ignored us. We left after standing for several minutes waiting - if you were busy or didn't have availability, the least you can do is acknowledge us and let us know. Very shocked by this treatment when the other restaurants we've gone to in Venice have been nothing but friendly and welcoming. I rarely leave reviews but had to this time - I see other reviews that service is poor and especially discriminating to Asian guests and sad to say I experienced the same.

Edit to the response: As mentioned, if you were busy due to reservations, etc., the least you can do is to acknowledge us and let us know, especially when several waiters were standing and saw us. Actions speak...

DO NOT MISS this restaurant! I was on a family trip with my sister and my 15-year-old nephew (so 2 adults and a teenager), and Casa Bonita was such a great find. It's super cozy and serves truly amazing real Venetian food. I know that in Venice it's hard to pick a place because they all say they offer “authentic cuisine,” but this one really does. The location is also perfect — right by the canal, but not in a busy or touristy spot. It feels warm and calm, just what you want after a long day walking around. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the food… wow. The pasta was fresh and full of flavor, and the black ink risotto with cuttlefish was the best we’ve ever tried. The bruschetta with tomatoes? You could actually taste how good and fresh the tomatoes were — sweet and fruity. And the mussels and clams in sauce were absolutely delicious. We couldn’t stop dipping our bread in that sauce, it was so good! The prices were very fair, and honestly, it’s completely worth it. We loved it so much that we went back on our last night in Venice.
