Lovely hotel located on a canal. The location is an easy walk from the train station, and you don't have to drag your luggage accross any bridges or up and down stairs to get there, which is rare in Venice. There is a lively bar, a good pizza and seafood restaurant, and a great crepe place just around the corner, and vaporetto stops nearby in either direction. The hotel has three floors of guest rooms, each of which has a different name. We stayed on the top floor, which is called "Le Mansarde", and used to be the servant's quarters. While this floor has smaller windows, it has the advantage of being above the surrounding buildings so your view is of the Venice skyline, not a wall, if you're not in one of the suites facing the canal. The rooms on the top floor also have skylights.
The regular rooms are small, but that is typical for Venice. The windows don't have screens, so you can't leave them open at night because of the mosquitoes, but the rooms do have air conditioning. Our room was facing the street, but we could lean out the window and see the canal. We did find some mosquitoes in our room, and several bloody splotches on the walls where previous guests had killed mosquitoes.
The front desk staff were extremely polite and accommodating, even when a train delay caused us to have to check in hours after the normal...
Read moreI really wanted to love this hotel and my review is certainly a bit biased as during my recent stay for 3 nights, I was eaten alive via mosquito bites, with over 30 massive bites all over my fact and body! It was on my second morning and I was awakened to the horror of the very large - red bites all over my face and arms. The rooms are lovely little Venice styled rooms, and I wanted to love this place. I was with 2 other couples and the other 2 couples experienced no issues, it was just the room my hubby and I were in. When we checked in the windows in the room were in fact WIDE OPEN so I took that as a sign that was OK. It was very warm in Venice during our stay which is great for the weather and we left the windows open as the hotel would not yet turn on the air con. When i woke up on morning 2 - it was to my horror to be covered in bites, and then the room was infested and the mosquitoes were all over the room, on the ceiling and the walls||I did in fact report to front desk on 2 separate occasions and I did not feel they understood or truly were at all concerned with my medical issues.||I would not stay here again just simply do to the horror of the bites and of course being a woman and I had over 15 bites on my face and it really ruined my...
Read moreNice hotel in a good location, but the manager needs to work on his customer service skills. Room was clean and quiet, but did have some issues owing to poor room servicing (clothing from previous guest and used water bottle left in the room). Both issues quickly resolved once reported and apologised for. We arrived late but frida had kindly waited for us to checkin which was definitely appreciated after a long journey. She was extremely friendly and welcoming, giving us some information on the area and transport links etc. Hotel is right on the canal which caught us out at high tide, but otherwise a really nice stay. The only issue was the manager who shouted at us to put a mask on in reception before he would even speak to us. Given our late arrival the night before we hadn’t fully understood the mask requirement, which we were happy to put on. That being said, there is no excuse for shouting at your guests when they try to ask you a question. A simple please or thank you is all that was required. He was incredibly rude and no appreciation that someone could perhaps have just forgotten; a simple mistake that did not deserve the reaction or treatment we received. Were it not for this it would have been a 5 star review. Manners...
