Agli Archi - Ristorante, Enoteca, Cicchetti Gourmet — Restaurant in Venice

We stumbled upon Agli Archi as we were meandering around the Cannaregio area of Venice and what a stroke of luck that turned out to be! It is not only the best restaurant we have eaten at in Venice, but probably the best place we have dined in Italy. Leonardo and his staff are friendly, attentive, and efficient, and, most importantly, the food is amazing! There is both inside and outdoor dining available, with the outdoor tables directly overlooking the canal (our table sat a couple of feet from the canal itself). Sitting there overlooking a canal in a quiet part of the city, eating fabulous food, drinking great wine, and watching in complete relaxation a Venice sunset is about as good as it gets. We began our meal with some lovely white wine recommended by Leonardo to accompany our bruschetta with fresh tomatoes and basil-- so fresh and so flavorful. For entrees, my wife had the ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta, and it was to die for-- perfectly cooked pasta bursting with flavor. I had the Pistachio-encrusted tuna slices. I am a tuna fan, though, unfortunately, most of the time the tuna lacks any flavor and as it cools becomes tough. Agli Archi's tuna is fresh, beautifully prepared, and wonderfully flavorful. It was the fish equivalent of a really good tenderloin. No knife was required, it simply melted in your mouth. There was an extensive menu to choose from and we definitely picked out winners. From talking to the people around us, they were equally enthusiastic about what they had ordered. For dessert we had tiramisu. My wife has spent a lifetime looking for the "best" tiramisu and her conclusion after completely cleaning her bowl was that if it wasn't the best she had ever had, it ranked in the top three all-time. The entire dining experience from ambience to service to food was so outstanding that we made reservations to dine with him the following evening. We would certainly give Agli Archi our highest rating and would encourage anyone looking for a terrific dining experience in Italy to...

Absolutely phenomenal. Agli Archi isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience, and I am still dreaming about it. I have never sat at a restaurant for 4 hours, and ordered soo much food, that everything I ordered only turned out to be 200 euros… I was shook. I’ve eaten seafood all over, from high-end spots in NYC to coastal gems in Asia and nothing, I repeat nothing, comes close to what I had here.

From the moment we sat down, the service was flawless. Marco/Marko (Moroccan guy), our server, was hands down the most genuine, knowledgeable, and kind person we’ve ever encountered in the restaurant world. He guided us through the menu like a storyteller 😂 pairing flavors and wines with such warmth and intention that it felt like we were being welcomed into someone’s home.

Now the food. The clams? I don’t even know how to describe them, you just have to taste it yourself. The crab was sweet and delicate, rich yet light, perfectly balanced. Every single bite of every single dish was a reminder of what seafood is meant to taste like. Fresh, vibrant, honest.

We couldn’t stop ordering. One plate would arrive, we’d swear it was the best thing we’ve ever tasted, and then the next one would somehow top it. It felt magical. The ingredients didn’t just taste fresh, they felt alive. There’s real heart in this kitchen and it shows in every course.

The view of the canal, the warm and inviting interior, the wall of wines, the peaceful hum of Venice in the background, all of it combined into a night I’ll never forget. Agli Archi is more than a must-visit in Venice. It’s the kind of place that ruins other seafood for you because nothing else will ever taste this real again. I would fly across the world just to eat here...
