Pleasant hotel, very clean. Room very nice, extremely small bathroom, no tea of coffee making facilities provided, had to ask for bottled water. Very little wardrobe/ storage space. We slept better after we were allowed air con in our room however the consumer unit in the room constantly buzzes. No telephone in the room, communicated with reception via WhatsApp. Our room was located on the very top floor (4th), there’s no lift beyond level 1. it was extremely hot and stuffy in our room we tried the air con but it didn’t work ‘eventually ‘after several requests , reception put the air con on in our room as this appears to be controlled from reception. Hubby suffered lots of mosquito bites which was unpleasant, however reception did provide a plug in repellent when informed of the mosquitos. Breakfast was very good and so was the service. Eolo provided very useful information re: directions, restaurant recommendations etc prior to our arrival, this was very helpful. We were told if we paid cash on arrival we could have the room at a discounted rate, however we didn’t feel comfortable travelling with an excessive amount of cash so declined, however when we checked in we were asked again that if we paid in Cash we’d receive a discount, and even told we could go to an ATM, we declined but felt a little uncomfortable with their persistence. Location is very good for St Marks Square, restaurants, shops, but very very busy touristy area with extremely...
Read moreMuch has been said about the rooms being smaller than expected, and about the breakfast arrangements - so I won’t dwell on those things. Except to say to those people who complain that the Relais Venezia doesn’t provide a cooked breakfast - come on! Really? It’s Italy. Expecting a full English is like a Scotsman expecting haggis in Harrogate.
Stay here if you like a clean, quiet, stylish hotel. Stay here if you like to be in the centre of the action - the hotel is just 500 metres from Rialto, and two minutes away from St Marks square. The surrounding streets are packed with bars and restaurants. Be sure to eat at Ristorante de Carletto - just a stone’s throw away from the Hotel. Stay here if you like hotel staff who are delightfully friendly and rooms that are beautifully clean.
If you’re coming from Marco Polo airport, take the water bus blue line to Ospedale or the orange line to Rialto. The trip is around 40 minutes - half the time it takes to travel to St Marks square as we had been advised.
Top tip - ask for a room on the lower floors if you have trouble with stairs. There are 85 steps from the entrance to the rooms at the top of the building. That’s around six and a half flights in a standard home! We had thighs of steel by the end...
Read moreAbsolutely wonderful. My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights for our anniversary trip around Italy , and wish we had booked longer. The level of care to their guests is outstanding , even before we arrived, we had Leonardo contacted us to make sure we had the best way to get to the hotel from the station ( water taxi , highly recommend) and excellent dinner recommendations. When we arrived we were greeted to what I can only say is one of the best check in experiences we have had .Elena was so welcoming and we even had a little treat to welcome us. To top it off, the ongoing service we had from Frederico was amazing , no question was a challenge and everything we needed was arranged. This beautiful tucked away gemstone has been far better than some large big chain hotels we have stayed at and I couldn’t recommended it enough ! Oh and not to mention the brilliant personalised breakfast , served to your table in such lovely intimate setting. It felt more like being with family. Everything is on your doorstep, perfectly located right in the heart of town, near all the sights. Do not hesitate to book this charming hotel , we can’t wait to go back! Elena, Frederico and Leonardo, thanks again for a perfect...
