Short version - DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! Long version - Impossible to find! WE ARRIVED AT 3pm ( No sign above door to tell you it is "Rivo Alto"). When we did eventually find it, we pressed the door bell. We got No Reply!!! Other reviewers are NOT joking! It was literally 35 minutes before the intercom doorbell was answered!!!! A voice told us he would be there immediately. 7 minutes later we were buzzed in! There was nobody at reception! Another 20 minutes before a guy came running threw the main door to check us in!!! Utter Farce!! We booked a specific room. (The red four poster bed) instead, he showed us to thee worst hotel room I have ever seen! Paint was coming off the walls, the mattress was so old you could see the indentation of all the people who slept there before us!!! The carpets were disgusting! After some argument we were eventually brought to the room we had booked, in the picture. It was really nice. Carpet was still disgusting but everything else was perfect! So we stayed!!!!! Avoid it. The hastle of just getting in the door was incredibly stupid! We didn't even know if we were knocking in the right door. The neighbouring business's didn't know any one from the Hotel!!!! CRAZY!!! We were advised to phone them! But there was nobody there to answer the phone! Laughable how they have lasted this long! I felt like thee most persistent human being on earth. Save yourself the stress of finding this dump and the stress of just getting in the door!!!!!!! Incredible. There was an Asian lady working there the next morning who was really nice. She Would not tell us why getting inside the hotel was so difficult! Don't stay here, Do NOT stay here, DO NOT...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay, it is more of a B&B experience than a hotel. The rooms were clean and the location was amazing, just a couple of mins stroll to the Rialto bridge. We stayed in the triple room which was fantastic as the 3rd bed has its own room. Great for us with an older child.||Rooms are air conditioned. Word of warning! Mozzies! if you leave the windows open you will be ate alive, we closed them at night but it was to late as they had crept in whilst we had spent some time watching the world go by from from the window! Venice as you would expect has lots and lots of mozzies, we bought spray on our 2nd day and this helped.||||Beds are comfortable, bathrooms clean and adequate, room has a fridge with drinks in, there was a price list, very reasonable, but when we were checking out I mentioned that we had used some drinks from the fridge and they said they would not be charged, which was very nice!||||Breakfast in included and European as you would expect, I enjoyed the cereal and yoghurt's and the bread rolls were fresh. Tea and coffee available. You are left a tray which you fill and take to your room. This suited us as we like to lounge early morning before and after breakfast and I was able to stay in my Pj;s!||||Check in was easy and they walked us to the front door and explained keys etc. we were able to leave our luggage at the check in location on departure for collection later in the day, free of charge.||||WiFi was free.||||This is not a luxury hotel, so remember you get what you pay for! we found the price reasonable for such a convenient location, with a comfortable room...
Read moreStayed for just one night in this B&B which is just a short walk from Rialto Bridge. I always try to be fair and objective so overall I have to say I was disappointed with the stay. Yes, in Venice space is at a premium but I felt this property was far too cramped. The entrance is just a doorway on a street which is always locked. There is a tiny entrance lobby and desk on entry, leading to a narrow stairway to the rooms. Our room (number 3) was at the back with a 'view' looking onto other properties windows within a few feet, hence we had to have the curtains drawn all the time. Although the bedroom and shower room were a reasonable size, there was a definite musty smell on entering. Fairly clean inside so no problems there and good free wifi. The location for breakfast is a bit of a joke in my book, as no breakfast room and small tables set up on the small landing outside our room. This was for everyone. Breakfast was ok to good and was adequate. Staff were helpful when needed but not always at the premises. Overall I would say too cramped and the area itself near Rialto immediately outside was extremely busy. Prior to staying her a few days before we stayed at another B&B near Rialto which was off the main thoroughfare, quieter and a bit more spacious but within a few yards of the bustle which was much better. Not a cheap hotel so suggest you are paying for the central location. If we had had a room overlooking the small canal here it may have been better but overall a disappointing stay and...
