I fell in love with several things at this wonderful onsen. First, I loved the harbor view from the veranda of our very large set of tatami rooms. I was just floored at how beautiful the rooms were, how comfy the futons were, and how tasty the breakfast was. But then, i just loved, loved, loved the view of the sunrise from the top floor open-air onsen. Wow. This onsen is high on the hill. Loved hearing the crickets at night and the birds in the morning. I would say the only thing that really marred the view from the open-air bath was a rather large and unnecessary sign on top of a hotel which was down the hill from our onsen. Atami really needed some building code restrictions. But it sure was fun watching the Shinkansen go by further up the hill at night and in the morning. Nothing marred the view from our room. There were so many special details throughout the room. The people at the hotel were so nice. I especially loved the charcoal black hinoki body soap, shampoo and conditioner in the first floor public bathing area. The bath down there was very hot. All in all, it was a...

There were also more onsen on the ground floor. We tried them all, and they are open late so you are not rushed. The food was excellent, really superb. We were served dinner and breakfast in the room, and they even made a special kids menu. During the day we walked down to the harbor about 10 minutes. The only negative comment is that the facilities showed a bit of wear and tear, but it did not affect our stay. For what we paid we all agreed it was a...
