Thank you Wooribo for having us during our stay in Kusatsu! I happen to book with them on a whim as everything else on the booking engines were either too expensive or wasn't to our liking. The location was a convenient walk to Yubatake ~5min and close to Lawson!
Our room was comfortable and decently sized for a small intimate ryokan. The futon was comfortable for myself however for my boyfriend who is on the taller side, required a second futon to thicken it up. The breakfast was great consisting of the same proteins and ingredients however eggs were done differently each day- really loved the scrambled eggs!
The onsen was never busy, we didn't have to wait whenever we were ready for a shower and a dip, the water was however quite hot and took some time getting used to and we couldn't stay long. With that being said we slept very well after our onsen session.
The staff at Wooribo were all so lovely and helpful. As non-Japanese speakers we utilised google translate when needed and was not an issue. We were given a town map from the moment we got there.
We loved the samue we got to wear, however we would have appreciated an overcoat to go with it so we could wear it out.
Overall, if you are looking for an intimate, non-commercialised and cozy ryokan to stay at, look no further! They also have a sister ryokan however we picked this one because they had ample parking spots.
