I can happily recommend Meldia Hotels to anyone visiting Japan, short or long term, vacation or business. They have all of the amenities you need, they are very quiet and clean and the staff is great.
They have many amazing locations, and this one I really liked. It is in a quiet area, and literally 5 minutes away by foot from several bus stops. Those busses will take you to all of the places you will want to see in Kyoto.
Keep in mind, when you book a hotel in Japan, in general, the rooms will be smaller, on average, then those of western or middle-eastern hotels. However, in this hotel, the room felt like an European room. Bathroom was very clean and had everything we need, including toiletries, towels slippers and PJs.

Easily done with buses that are running so frequently just about 300m from the hotel. To get to hotel just take bus 206 from Kyoto station A3 stand and stop at Shijo Omiya. Walk back alongside cross the traffic lights about 300m you are at the hotel. Near the traffic light junction you can see the train station Omiya across the road.
