🇯🇵 Kyoto: Hidden Gem Machiya Homes You Rarely Hear About

This is my 2nd time staying here for my trip to Japan. The room is pretty small so it’s kinda hard to open your luggage in here. The onsen is a great amenity to use and the AC worked well in the room. During this time of my stay, free breakfast was included also; it’s nothing to rave about but gets the job done and saves you a little money instead of going to the konbini. Overall the place is clean. It is a little far from the main things in Kyoto but there is a train station right across the street and also busses so it’s still easy to get around.

Love it! Though its a bus ride to kyoto station, its near the randen station to Arashiyama and a bus ride to Kyomizydera and Gion District, walking distance to bus stops and subway stations Clean hotel with public onsen, and basic amenities needed by travellers. I was able to book it at a very nice price. Friendly staff, ample space in the room and a bath tub too. They even booked a taxi for us going to kyoto station.

I’ve been to Japan several times and this was just my 2nd time staying not just 1 night but 4 nights in Kyoto. Before, we would usually just do a day trip and we would go back to Osaka or somewhere else. This time around we decided to stay in Kyoto as our base so looking for the right hotel at the right and most convenient place is a bit of a challenge. Luckily, we found Hop Inn Kyoto which is just a few steps away from Shijo Omiya station and near Shijo-dori, Kyoto’s most fashionable shopping district which can be accessed best via bus - minimun 3 stops or if you love to walk then its also a better and healthier way to explore the area.||What’s best about Hop Inn is their in-house Onsen free for their guests which I tried 2x and a much bigger space in their rooms at 13 sqm. We booked this room via Agoda at just 300 SGD for 4 nights what a great deal it is!!! Check-in was smooth and quick as we just checked in on time. Our semi double room is much bigger than similar rooms in the area and just like other Japanese rooms it is very clean, neat and ready. The only difference with Hop Inn is their toiletries and amenities where you have to pickup yourself at their lobby unlimited it is. Coffee/Tea/Bath bombs and lots of toiletries are there for you to enjoy and take free. The sleeping robe is also located right at the lobby. Only the towels are replaced by the staff regularly. Cleaning is also requested but they will clean your room on the 3rd night of your stay. ||We were booked on the 6F and right after you enter, there is a huge wardrobe/compartment/luggage store space to your right with a full body mirror. To your left is the spacious toilet which is my favourite space in the room of course Japanese style with a complimentary Body Wash/Shampoo/Conditioner on containers which is standard for Japanese hotels. I loved that they provided glasses for toothbrush and mouth wash here. Water pressure and heating are strong and easy to regulate. Next is the main bedroom area with a wide study table on the right with a mini-bar, water kettle, fridge and 2 bottled waters provided on your first day. The study table has Digital clock and a comfy leather chair. There is a wall mounted flat screen TV with only local channels but WIFI is also quite fast. This area is carpeted with Greyish/Brown tone. We don’t have curtains but there is a wooden blinds with very small window at our room. The overall color tone is Brown/Pink which is quite appealing and aesthetic. There are power adapters near the bed side and the study table side. ||Speaking of the bed - its a Double bed which is clean and comfy but a bit low compared to other hotels so no space for your bags underneath. The pillows are also not too fluffy but I requested for a soft pillow and they provided me. Blankets are thick and comforting and the overall lighting of the room is warm and cozy. There is a wooden door slide that you could close and divide the bed area from the toilet/wardrobe /compartments which I find really unique and homey. The next day we tried once their in house breakfast buffet for just 1100 yen promotion and we loved all of it. Its a typical Japanese style breakfast which you know includes bread, eggs, rice, soup, noodles, salad, curry sauce, fruit, protein selections of meat/fish, drinks like Coffee/Tea/Juices and the traditional Japanese Obanzai dishes on small paper plates which you could help yourselves. The place is called Luxe and it was not crowded which we loved on a Sunday morning when we tried - a must try!!!||One of the best things in Hop Inn Kyoto is their indoor Onsen which I tried 2x out of our 4 nights stay. Each time I really loved because its very clean, neat, tidy and not crowded. To control the people coming in, you must reserve at the lobby and they will give you the key to get into the hot bath. To get here, located at the 2F, you get your towels first then enter to their locker area where you placed your things before getting into the shower area/onsen bath - that simple it is!!! The communal bath only opens from 4 PM to 10 PM daily. We also tried their laundry area for washing and free ice located as well on the 2F which is standard again for most Japanese hotels.||So there you go, if you ever visit Kyoto and looking for a budget friendly hotel that gives you the amenities and facilities including a hot Onsen that you need and near the famous Shijo shopping street then look no further book Hop Inn Kyoto Shijo Omiya because you will definitely feel at home right at the cultural center of...

First of all, this hotel locates in a perfect place, just outside the noisy area on the Shijou Road, have several bus stops nearby, and also have Hankyu subway and Randen railway station nearby(But both these two are not included in the Kyoto subway-bus daypass.).In the service part, the check in and out protocols are fluent and has one staff speaking fluent English in the front during busy time. The whole hotel is quite clean even in the common area. There are several points need to be improved as a modern hotel.First, the free wifi in the room is so slow that I could just go and arrive a place before the Google map finished loading the content about the place.Second is about the noise, which I think might come from the window since it is not completely fit tightly and the wind go throght it.The last one is the chair in the room does not have chair back makes it hard to relax on it. And it is a rolling chair with low legs sometimes...
