I recently stayed at Hotel Glad One Kyoto Shichijo by M's during my visit to Kyoto and it was a pleasant experience.
One of the standout features of this hotel is its convenient location. It's just a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station, making it easy to access, and it's nearby to other train stations, simplifying travel around the city. Additionally, it's within a 30-minute walk from some of Kyoto's most beautiful temples, shrines, and famous districts, which is a definite plus for exploring the city.
The price for the stay is hard to beat, especially considering the newly renovated rooms. The room was equipped with modern amenities like air conditioning, WiFi, and complimentary tea. It’s a modest sized room with a decent-sized bathroom. The cleanliness of the rooms were also commendable. Like others have written, the bed and pillow were firm, however I always had a comfortable night's sleep (and I sleep on a foam mattress at home).
The front desk staff, though not always readily available, were friendly, professional, and accommodating when I did interact with them. I’d like to recognize that there were always cleaning staff present on site which was reassuring, and I appreciated the cleanliness of the rooms. One thing to note is that room cleaning occurs every three days unless requested otherwise, so keep that in mind for longer stays.
While the hotel might not offer an extensive list of amenities, this didn't pose a major issue given the reasonable price and prime location. Front desk has some free toiletries. There is also an on-site reasonably priced coin laundry.
In conclusion, I had an overall positive experience at Hotel Glad One Kyoto Shichijo. It offers excellent value for money, comfortable accommodations, and a fantastic location for exploring Kyoto. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on a return trip...
Read moreWhile the hotel is very new and clean and has many positives, I cannot easily recommend this hotel until they fix their wifi issues. It is honestly unusabe, where I have full bars, but it won't connect to the internet, or if it does, the speeds are comparable to dial-up internet, and it seems to be a problem many people have had here in the past based on other reviews. There is also a fee of 200 yen per-person per-night, which we only found out when checking in, and speaking of check in, there is nobody at the front desk, so you have to use the phone there which will put you through to somebody. In the lobby, there is a nice eating area with many tables and chairs to eat at, with a microwave, as well as free beverages including tea, coffee and carbonated drinks like coke, melon soda, ginger ale, and sometimes orange juice when it hasn't run out. The area would be nice if you have a group of 3 or more people, as the rooms aren't too big once you have luggage inside.
The rooms are nice, but aren't very spacious. There are no room keys, but instead the doors have digital locks that you have to input a passcode to unlock. The bathroom is modern, but extremely cramped, and the shower has random temperature spikes, that will either change about 10° hotter or colder at any moment, where I have been burned a few times across my 5 nights here. The tv is fairly old, and many of the channels are randomly unavailable. There are 2 washing machines and 2 driers on the first floor, with the washers being 300 yen for a half an hour wash, and the driers 100 yen per...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Glad One Kyoto Shichijo by M's and overall, it was a wonderful experience. The hotel is well-maintained, modern, and offers a comfortable environment for guests. The rooms are clean, spacious, and equipped with all the necessary amenities to ensure a pleasant stay.
The location of the hotel is fantastic, providing easy access to Kyoto's key attractions and public transportation. This convenience is a significant plus for travelers looking to explore the city.
However, one aspect that needs improvement is the Wi-Fi service. During my stay, the Wi-Fi was quite terrible, with frequent disconnections and slow speeds. This was a bit frustrating, especially for those needing a reliable internet connection for work or planning their travels.
Despite this issue, everything else about the hotel was really good. The ambiance, cleanliness, and excellent service make it a great place to stay. If the Wi-Fi issue is resolved, it would make Hotel Glad One Kyoto Shichijo by M's an even more outstanding choice for visitors.
In summary, Hotel Glad One Kyoto Shichijo by M's offers a great experience with its excellent location, comfortable rooms, and superb staff. Fixing the Wi-Fi would make it nearly perfect. I would still recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant and convenient...
