cash only This place is amazing. I am the farthest thing from a vegan and I will gladly come back to this restaurant any day of the week. It's not only the best vegan restaurant I've been, but one of my favorites overall.
The interior of this shop is very unique with a lot of wood and plants. They have a clothing shop on the first floor. A very hipster type of place. Atmosphere was very enjoyable.
The wait was long but they give you a QR code that let's you see how long of a wait you have on your phone so you're free to peruse neighboring stores.
I ordered this ramen with a soymilk based broth (not too sure the exact name because my Japanese friend ordered for me) as well as their cheesecake. The ramen far exceeded my expectations and I would dare say it is one of my favorite ramens overall. The soymilk base was full of flavor and creamy without being too thick or overwhelming. I am honestly not sure what else they put in the bowl of ramen, but if you love ramen, this place is a must try.
The cheesecake was not what I would call a cheesecake but tasted amazing with hints of cinnamon and lemon. Its more of a mousse type of dessert but still tastes great!
I will definitely try this place again the next time I...
Read more2025 update they now have vegan & gluten free clearly labeled on the menu. Great healthy, tasty & satisfying meals, snacks & desserts. I checked with staff & absolutely only vegan stock is used from Kombu (seaweed)) and shiitake mushrooms - all so delicious 😋
Tofu hamburg is soft & soy karaage is firm and crunchy, so the combo set works well. The cheesecake was creamy yet firm NY style 😋
Amazing vegan, plant-based foods, drinks and desserts that I wonder if most patrons even know it's made without meat + fish as so many similar look + tasting meals here.
Big family area and kid-friendly dining seems popular with moms with kids and the kids offerings look kid-friendly and fun while still being vegan/plant-based.
Menu in Japanese with good pictures. Table and counter and family seating for about 50 diners at a time.
Covid-19 precautions of spacing diners and using spray for hands and having windows open.

Read moreMumokuteki Cafe is a magical spot catering for plant-based folks and offering a much-needed reprieve from the chaotic tourism Kyoto is experiencing.
The cafe is located on the second floor of a shop and has such a cute vibe. Lots of natural lighting and warm ambiance to really make you feel at home.
All of the meals here are vegetarian-friendly with a few indicating that bonito is used. It looked like most items are vegan or can be made vegan, so be sure to check the menu to make sure before ordering.
I ordered one of the Katsu Teishoku (¥2500) which came with an abundance of healthy veggie sides, rice, soup, and soy meat katsu. The soy meat patty was a hit that was perfectly fried and coated with a wonderful katsu sauce.
My sister ordered their vegan omurice and fell in LOVE. She called it the best omurice she's had and her favorite meal during the trip, which says a lot considering she is not plant-based.
We ended the meal with an incredible soy latte dessert - not too sweet and very refreshing.
Loved the cafe overall. A bit on the pricier end but the quality of the food helps to justify the...
