We were in Kyoto for a week, we tried almost all the cafes around the neighbourhood and this was one of them.
I have to say I was very disappointed, both service and the coffee. Especially the service.
We walked in and there was this lady which spoke pretty good English and slight American accent. But we felt she was somehow annoyed at our presence. I understand the cafe was a little busy but as clients we shouldn’t have to feel like we are as “extras “
The lady didn’t really greeted us nicely, she just said hi in a very mono tone voice and asked “ do you mind sitting at the bar ?”
We went behind the lady , she went straight back to the staff counter and point at the bar table she wanted us to sit .
We sat down, and she didn’t event come over to us and just spoke from her counter and say “ you need to order here “
I looked at the menu , she didn’t say anything and had a straight face. Did not introduced the menu she has in front of her , and again I felt she was annoyed that we came in to the cafe. It was just a really bad aura overall from this lady .
I ordered a coffee in the end and she said “ you need to order 2 , because minimum one drink per person as there are 2 of you” I said what about dessert ? She said “no only drinks “
It was not an issue at all , I could have ordered 2 drinks but because her vibes and aura was soOo bad , in the end I asked for a take away cup. I don’t need to put up with this negativity. As clients we shouldn’t have to put up with this unprofessionalism.
And …… the coffee was so acidic to the point the oat milk curdled ….😩😩😩

Read moreGood day. My family and I visited this cafe as tourists today from South Africa, I am absolutely appalled at what happened earlier today regarding the staff. I walked in with my brother and nobody came to help us we had to go to the counter to ask for service, but when two different sets of white couples walked in your staff was more than happy to assist them to a table and take their order. On top of that I had ordered an ice tea before these two couples had walked in yet they got their drinks and food before me, I even had to ask your staff twice why is my ice tea taking so long. We already have such deep racial tensions in my country and I felt completely disrespected and undermined by your staff today. If people of colour are not welcome at this cafe please put a sign outside to let us know we are not Welcome. Japan holds itself high on respect yet it seems like the staff at this cafe have no respect if your skin is of a dark complexion. I will be telling many black tourists to avoid this place...
Read moreWhile the kids were at the Samurai Musuem just a few hundred meters away, I wondered around the block to look for a cafe and settle down with my book whilst waiting for them. To my delight, I found just the right spot. It was drizzling that morning, so I didn't want to explore any further. I ordered coffee and later on, a cake as I was feeling peckish. Both were so delicious. The coffee was so good, I had another cup. My cake was fluffy and and the fig was fresh and taste so good when bitten into. The team kept coming and asking me if I am good and required anything else. This neighbourhood cafe has a nice down to earth vibe and the 2 and half hours went by in a...
