I selected this hotel after conducting research on Google, where it had garnered exceptionally positive reviews. In fact, I personally found the hotel quite satisfactory, particularly because of its location, which is convenient for those traveling from Osaka via the Hankyu Railway. However, for guests arriving by JR trains, as I did, the hotel may be slightly less convenient in terms of railway access with luggage. Nevertheless, I still appreciate this neighborhood, as it is relatively calm and free from crowds, allowing me to observe the local residential areas and experience authentic aspects of Japanese daily life. One feature I truly appreciate about this hotel is its flexibility regarding early check-in and late check-out. Although the late check-out time is not exceedingly late, it is sufficient to provide guests with additional time to organize their belongings before departure. The staff at this hotel are exceptionally courteous and attentive, consistently offering service with a smile and readily assisting with any requests I had during my stay. I had previously read in reviews that the hotel provides room wear; however, there was none available in my room, which I found slightly disappointing. I would also advise future guests to bring their own toothbrush and toothpaste, as the hotel supplies these amenities only on the first day of the stay and on days when housekeeping is performed. Housekeeping service is provided every three days—for example, if you check in on Day 1, the next cleaning would be on Day 4. Therefore, I recommend ensuring you bring sufficient personal toiletries for the duration of your stay. Additionally, guests should prepare and bring their own skincare products, as such items are not provided by the hotel. The amenities available include razors, shower caps, bath sponges, and a cotton brush kit. Inside the bathroom, you will find hand wash foam, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. A hair dryer is also provided in the room, and an iron can be borrowed upon request. Free drinking water is available on the first floor, where guests can dispense it into paper cups for immediate consumption. A microwave and ice machine are also located on the first floor for guest use. For laundry needs, there are two coin-operated washing machines and two dryers located on the second floor. The washing machine costs 400 yen per load and takes approximately 30 minutes, with detergent automatically included, so there is no need to add any detergent manually. The dryer costs 200 yen per 30-minute cycle; I would recommend running the dryer for at least 60 minutes for optimal results. During my stay, my room was located on the 5th floor. While there was occasional noise from families with children, it was not particularly disruptive, and in my case, I was quite tired and able to sleep without difficulty. Bed and pillows are not as comfortable as my expectations. It is important to note that the hotel does not provide breakfast service. Guests must arrange their own meals. While there are some dining options nearby, including cafés such as Holly’s Coffee, Tully’s Coffee, and Komeda’s Coffee, I personally feel that if one intends to have a set meal, it might be preferable to dine at a proper restaurant instead. It offers convenient access to transportation within Kyoto via the subway, and the surrounding area is well-served by convenience stores, drugstores, and some restaurants, making it a practical choice for travelers. Price is reasonable. but in terms of location, amenities(like body and face lotion, shaving cream, cleansing oil, etc. this hotel doesn't provide), facilities, others have better location, have breakfast for your choice, have free coffee for hotel guests. Good for your...
Read moreThey offer a late check-out option in exchange for a 5-star rating on Google. I find this very cheesy. It seems like the hotel’s rating is manipulated. I would give a 4-star rating for its price/value ratio if they didn’t try to oblige you to provide a 5-star rating for a late check-out. (By the way, we left around 8:50 for our train at 9:30.)
The hotel’s location is convenient. It is close to multiple bus stations and the Randen Line Metro.
We booked a superior room for more space; however, it was not well designed. It should have had more hangers and some shelves on the walls.
The bed is positioned between two windows, and you can literally feel the wind on your face. We made barricades with pillows at night.
The cleaning was not thorough enough. We removed a lot of hair from the bathroom. The housekeeping staff should wear bonnets.
The laundry room has only two sets of washers and dryers. It seems that the dryers are not well maintained. It took 2 hours to dry our clothes, while it took only 1 hour in Osaka for the exact same batch of clothes, and the dryers were the same brand and model.
There is no breakfast service. You can walk to Yayoi Ken (6-7 minutes) or McDonald’s (3 minutes) to have breakfast. Alternatively, you can buy some sandwiches, yogurt, etc., from Family Mart or 7-Eleven (both just 2 minutes away).
The reception staff is helpful. You can get instant coffee or tea refills from the reception. The rooms are equipped with a kettle and fridge. Additionally, there’s a small food room with a microwave and a basic vending machine. There are 5 to 6 tables at the entrance that you can use for...
Read moreWe booked this hotel to be in the city centre of Kyoto, close to the action for the Gion Matsuri festival: the most famous festival in Japan which takes place in July. Being the festival, and a major tourist attraction, the prices for accommodation in Kyoto were fairly high. We got one of the cheapest ones.||The Room|A standard room for Japan: small and compact. The bathroom wasn’t as pokey as other hotels, and had a small, rounded bathtub. As alluded to in the introduction, this hotel actually had recycling bins in the room itself. Generally, recycling bins were hard to come by and many hotels didn’t offer them, especially in the guest rooms. In brief, there was mixed recycling, general waste and also a bin for used amenities.|This hotel is among those that offer eco-friendly practices such as reduced cleaning and linen changes. The room was pretty comfortable and it was a good option for the city centre.||The Common Areas|To begin with, there was no restaurant in this hotel. The bright entrance and reception space comprised of a small desk, and then a large sofa seating area in the centre. Free drinking water and luggage storage was on offer. The bags are secured with a glorified bike lock to a metal rope, and you are given the key. Nothing of great exception, but certainly offers convenience and support for your trip.||Location|20-25 minutes of walking and you’d arrive at Nijo Castle. Plenty of restaurants, bars and shops nearby, as you’re slap bang in the centre of Kyoto. Kyoto is rather large, so public transport is advised for further attractions, although this isn’t a bad choice for a...
