When we went here we walked through a quite small pathway hidden away from the street it was like we were leaving the city behind us. Opening the door to the establishment was like walking into a different time; soft music, soft lighting, and a soft blanket neatly folded and placed over each chair. We were greeted by an extremely professional looking man who welcomed us and invited us to sit and relax, we would later learn that this is the owner. He began preparing glasses for water and even provided us with a small snack of fresh and pickled vegetables. This man moved and worked like he was tending to a king or queen, I was awestruck by the prowess of his craft. At one point we were the only ones there and we engaged him about the place. He very proudly showed us around and we got to see the garden that he maintains himself, 1 hour a day he said. He did not speak much English but took the time and care to use translation apps to converse, he helped us find new things to do and try while we were in Kyoto and we ended up having a wonderful conversation. The ambience is classy and welcoming with very comfy seats and a great view of the various alcohols behind the counter. The staff are excellent. Very friendly and exceptional at their craft. The cocktails here are some of the best we've ever had in taste and appearance - the photos don't do them justice. There is limited seating at the bar but there are some tables, waiting areas and a private room upstairs. The bar is the best area though to see the drinks being made. A bit disappointed of the fact that one of the waiters did not know what a Negroni is. The older gentleman came and made one for us, but using white vermouth instead of red. Cocktails were not cheap , 2200 each and only after we ordered we realized that we all have to pay individually a tax of 1100 yen just as a cover tax. That takes on cocktail to 3300 yen .
