Experience the Essence of Japan in Kyoto.
For this Kyoto trip, I chose to stay at Rojiyu Kyoto, a traditional Japanese ryokan, to fully immerse myself in the local atmosphere. My room, “Ume”, is a duplex-style suite with a high ceiling, creating a spacious and airy feel. The moment I stepped inside, the subtle scent of wood filled the air, instantly bringing a sense of tranquility.
🌿 Serene Courtyard & Outdoor Onsen The ryokan itself feels like a hidden retreat, with a beautiful Japanese garden, stone pathways, and soft ambient lighting that add to its peaceful charm. The outdoor onsen was an absolute highlight—soaking in the warm water under the open sky was pure bliss. Occasionally, I could hear soft conversations from the neighboring bath, but since it’s an open-air setting, it felt natural and even added to the authentic onsen experience. Plus, everyone was very considerate, keeping their voices low to maintain the tranquil atmosphere.
🍵 Sipping Tea on Tatami, Embracing Kyoto’s Slow Living The room layout is beautifully traditional, featuring a spacious tatami area with soft lighting that enhances the calm and cozy ambiance. One of my favorite moments was simply sitting by the tea table, enjoying a warm cup of tea, and letting Kyoto’s serenity sink in.
This stay was truly a special experience—Roji Kyoto perfectly captures the warmth and elegance of traditional Japan. It exceeded all my expectations, and I already know I’ll be coming...
Read moreI recently stayed at Rojiyu Kyoto and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and welcoming. They went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortable and stress-free.
The location was perfect—peacefully tucked away yet still within walking distance of major attractions like Gion, Kiyomizu-dera, and Nishiki Market. I truly appreciated being able to explore the city and then return to such a calm and quiet space.
My room was spotless, beautifully decorated in a blend of modern design and traditional Japanese aesthetics. The tatami mat flooring and sliding doors gave it an authentic local feel, while still offering all the modern amenities like Wi-Fi, a comfortable bed, and a luxurious bath.
One of the highlights was the traditional Japanese breakfast served each morning—fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The hotel also had an onsen-style bath, which was the perfect way to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a serene, authentic Kyoto experience with top-notch service. I will definitely be returning on...
Read moreOur unit came with two bedrooms, one full bathroom and an extra toilet/sink, a dining area, refrigerator, microwave, and even a Dyson hairdryer. They provided all the bathroom amenities including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, face wash, face lotion, body lotion, wash cloths, razor, hair brush, shower caps, q tips, and toothbrushes. It was plenty of space for two adults and two teens. My teens enjoyed using the serene garden tub every night. A delicious traditional Japanese breakfast (which varies slightly daily) was included every morning during our stay. We had very comfortable beds and pillows. Our unit also came with a small all-in-one washer/dryer combo (laundry detergent and fabric softener were provided). Also, slippers and umbrellas were in the unit for our use. Staff were very friendly, informative, and communicated very efficiently via email/messaging and in person. We thoroughly enjoyed...
