I absolutely love this place, and the funny thing is that I didn’t originally plan to go there! I went the first week of December 2024 during my first time in Japan. My first night in Kyoto, I was looking for dinner spot that seemed foreigner-friendly because some Japanese people welcoming and some are passive-aggressive and I was getting tired of the passive-aggressive ones. I went walking in the night to go to one okonomiyaki place, but it was packed, so I just wandered up the street and found Cocoyanen. I went in and was warmly greeted—what a relief! I had a dragonfruit highball drink with it to wash everything down. The staff were very welcoming and I didn’t get any anti-foreigner vibes from them. Highly recommended down-to-earth restaurant and I’ll make sure to eat there again and again every time...

I got the fluffy tofu and damn...

I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy nice food. Another thing, you order from a tablet (also in English) so very...
