Yoitsubaki Machiya — Hotel in Kyoto

We stayed here with a total of 4 pax. I think the house is just nice for 4 people, even though it can accommodate up to 8. Given that there is only one showering room, I think it is a little difficult to accommodate more people.

The Machiya comes with a kitchen and washing machine (with dryer), which makes things very convenient. The whole place felt very homely and we love it very much. The receptionist also accommodated to our last minute request for a change in scheduling for housekeeping, and overall it was a pleasant stay. I am not too sure if the heated floors were working, as I did not feel it at all. But not a huge issue to us.

Check in counter is near the Kyoto JR station, the instructions were very clear and detailed. One thing to note that this place is quite far from the Kyoto JR station (about 15 mins walk), with our big luggages. Other than that, when visiting other tourist attractions, we always commute by bus. There is easily a bus stop near the place with convenience...

Stayed here two nights with 7 people total. It was amazing. Loved the heated floors. The washer and dryer came in clutch. Great location with a minute or two walk to a bus stop that can quickly get you to a train station (can also easily walk with luggage, but grab a bus or cab if you can) and many great sites fast.
