I thought I was going for a sushi dinner when I changed plans and found this place. I wasn’t expecting to eat Italian food while in Japan but I am so glad I did. I am from NYC and I have worked in the food/wine/restaurant for decades and have eaten around the world. This was one of the best overall experiences I’ve had dining out. The food was superbly prepared and flavors fresh and balanced. The special appetizer featuring 4 distinctly different items at first glance didn’t make sense, but each one shined: fish carpaccio with a dynamite pesto; homemade slices of pork pate with whole grain mustard; braised octopus; a small vessel of onion soup. The main course of prawns with herbs were spot on—so fresh and flavorful. I was so enthusiastic about the food that I ordered a half portion of pasta that was off the charts good—perfectly cooked spaghetti in light tomato, garlic and olive oil with flaky bits of fish. Just when I thought I was done, I ordered the tiramisu with fresh orange slices that I completely devoured. The chef/owner has an innate talent and palate and it shows. His wife who runs the floor and handles the wine list is gracious and knowledgeable. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone...
