Hotel Ibis Styles Ginza - A Solid Choice in the Heart of Tokyo We recently stayed at the Ibis Styles Ginza, booking two twin-bed rooms (19 sqm each) on the 12th floor. While both rooms were advertised as the same size, we found the corner room to be slightly larger, which was a definite plus, especially for travelers with more luggage. Room Features: Space: For Tokyo standards, the 19 sqm twin-bed rooms were a good size. However, I noted that some other rooms are significantly smaller (around 14 sqm), which might be a concern for some travelers. Storage: While there are no traditional wardrobes, the open racks provided sufficient storage space. Comfort: The beds were comfortable with clean linens and pillows. Temperature Control: The air conditioning worked effectively, keeping us comfortable even during the winter months (temperatures ranged from 0 to 10 degrees Celsius). Cleanliness: The rooms were impeccably clean, thanks to excellent daily housekeeping. Bathroom: The bathrooms, though compact with plastic-sealed fixtures, were functional and clean, with excellent water pressure. Hotel Amenities: Lobby: The lobby offered basic amenities like a free coffee machine, a microwave, and two coin-operated laundry machines. Breakfast: The hotel offers a decent continental breakfast at the Thai restaurant in the lobby (2200 yen per person at the time of writing). Service: The hotel staff provided friendly and efficient service. Location: Convenience: The hotel's location is its biggest strength. It's just a minute or two's walk from Ginza's main shopping street, three minutes from Ginza Six, and has convenient access to the Ginza subway station. Shinbashi station, with its cultural attractions and dining options, is also within easy walking distance (5-7 minutes). Nearby Options: Init Cafe & Restaurant: This excellent cafe/restaurant is just a minute's walk up the street and offers delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner options (see my separate review of Init). Also a very popular ramen please which I also reviewed on the same street just 3 minutes walk. Be aware to line up so go early. Family Mart: A convenient convenience store is located directly opposite the hotel. Starbucks 3 min walk and the dry popular Ramen place opposite as seen in phone from Starbucks.
Overall: For the price, the Ibis Styles Ginza offers good value, even considering the smaller room sizes of some options. While the 14 sqm rooms might be a tight fit for some, the 19 sqm twin-bed rooms provide decent space for the price. I recommend paying a bit more and opting for the larger 19 sqm room if possible, as it still offers competitive value compared to surrounding hotels with similar room sizes.

Read moreThe perfect budget hotel and close by from the major shopping area at Ginza.
The hotel is located just behind the main strip of Ginza which houses all the shopping brands, the perfect place to stay on budget if you want to spend more on shopping.
It is 500 meters walking distance from Ginza station and Don Quijote and Uniqlo flagship store is only a 5 min walk from there.
The rooms are neat, clean and tidy, although small. Personally as I require a lot of space, I would opt for 1 person per room, but if you are okay with 2 people staying, that should be fine as well.
The biggest asset to the hotel are its staff and by staff I specifically mean Niru, Maya, Daisuke & Thai Ting. They ensured to make my stay very comfortable and especially Niru who always had a smiling face whenever I used to pass by and treated all guests with respect and courteousness. If you see her at the front desk, go up to her for check in or any help, she will gladly help you out.
I was staying at the hotel on two occasions for a couple of nights on each occasion and my only negative experience was during the second stay.
The hotel provides bottled drinking water to guests on a per day basis, which ideally in any hotel in any part of the world (be it the lowest rated or highest rated is 2 bottles per day).
During my first stay, I was given 2 bottles of water. However during my second stay on the first day of check in (was being checked in by the Front Office Manager - Christopher Pasquier), when asked for water, his staff first gave one bottle, when I asked for another - he mentioned we only give one per guest and when I mentioned that on my first stay I was given 2 per day, his reply was "YOU ARE LUCKY!"
Personally I found this remark by Christopher to be extremely rude and should not be used when dealing with guests. Secondly Water is a basic necessity of life you are not doing a favour by serving water. Unlike many other hotels (Even Ibis Osaka) they have a water dispenser at the lobby where guests can refill their own bottles, this one does not have the option to do that. I am aware that you can fill water from the bathrooms in the rooms, but I am not very comfortable with that (thats just my personal preference).
All in all, I would definately recommend the hotel and their staff for their hospitality.
If I do go back, I shall definitely stay there.

Read moreI haven't stayed at too many of these ibis Styles', but I'm finding them to be a bit of "hit and miss". This one is more of a miss unfortunately. The room is quite small with just the basic amenities. Being Tokyo, is fine for just me. My main issue is with the service I received from front desk. As a platinum Accor Live Limitless member, I get to normally enjoy certain perks. One of which is a more streamlined check in. After a long journey and a bit of trouble finding the hotel, I was keen to get some rest. But the staff member at the Accor Live Limitless queue had me wait for a while as they attended something on their computer (maybe it was urgent, no idea). Now, in hindsight, I should have just moved across to one of the other staff members, seeing as there was no other guests there when I arrived. Curious that they didn't offer to help me as they were obviously free (there is a lack of teamwork there).
I needed to organise luggage to be forwarded to my next hotel in Japan and I was given incorrect information at first. I was given a flyer for the Airporter service, which did not deliver to other hotels (only to the airports). After realising this and wasting a bit of my time, I again approached front desk and the trainee there then assisted me with it. However, he almost charged me the incorrect rate for a larger sized piece of luggage. Fortunately, I had just used that same service to transport the same piece of luggage the same route (just in the opposite direction), so I knew how much it should have costed. I am not blaming the trainee though, but the other staff member, who by the way just handed me the Airporter service flyer, should have supported him (she didn't appear to have anything else going on). Again no teamwork to speak of.
There is also a "lounge" area on the top floor where my room is on, which have been converted to an office space (cordoned off with a office divider for a makeshift door). The employees coming in and out of that area don't seem all that particularly happy to be there. They may be happier to be moved somewhere they don't run into...
