This apartment hotel is a fantastic accommodation for our family’s stay in Tokyo.
GENERAL: The front desk staff are polite and helpful, especially when I pressed the wrong button on the check-in machine! The way to access our room was via the codes for the elevator and the apartment door lock, so no key card to carry around. The apartment itself is compact, but spacious enough for all 4 of us and all 4 of our suitcases and backpacks and still have room to move around. The apartment is spotlessly clean and they clean it every 3 days. The wallpaper is luxe and really makes the place look elegant.
BATHROOM & TOILET: The toilet is separate to the bathroom, which helps with multiple users. The hot water in the shower is great and they provide pump bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash that smell really good. At the bathroom sink, foaming hand wash in a pump bottle is provided, which is so much nicer than cake soaps! A pile of bath towels and hand towels are provided. The bathroom also has a washer-dryer combo, which is one of the main reasons I chose this apartment. Such a godsend to be able to set the washing to go and 3.5 hrs later, it’s dry. Just don’t set it to go just before you go to sleep like I did. It woke us up at 2am with its 12 beeps to say the washing is done! 😂 And if you would rather air dry your clothes, there are a handful of hangers and a circular peg thing you can use for a very small load of clothes. Translations of the Japanese writing for the various modes on the machine are provided. The toilet is the modern Toto toilet and has the seat warming function, plus all the other regular cleaning functions.
KITCHENETTE: There is a quiet kettle, small fridge, microwave, toaster oven, small stove, cutting mat, knives, scissors, crockery, cutlery, a few pots and pans (but I didn’t pay much attention to it as we ate out)
LOCATION: The location is excellent! It is very near the Asakusabashi train station. Literally 3 mins walk. Even though it was a 30 min train ride to Harajuku, it was only 20 mins to the Ginza and 15 mins to Tokyo Station (handy when we have an early Shinkansen to catch). It is also across the road to a supermarket and a convenience store (great for buying breakfast, topping up our IC cards and the ATM, although it charges a fee). And the right next to the supermarket is a Yamato Transport Service Centre! We used this to forward our luggage to our next destination, as the apartment will only help us forward our luggage if it is payment on delivery, but the accommodation we are forwarding it to needs us to have paid for it first. Plus it’s cheaper this way. The neighbourhood is amazingly quiet, with not much traffic and no crowds. In the evening, it comes alive with little restaurants that are filled with locals. Wish we had time to explore all of them. The one we went to opposite the west entrance of the train station that has a sculpture of the hind end of a cow sticking out the upper storey was our favourite - a delicious beef BBQ.
We will definitely want to stay here again the next time we visit Tokyo. Thank you for a...
Read moreMonday Apart Premium at Asakusabashi Station is a great choice for travelers looking for a simple, practical, no frills "Extended Stay" type option.
The service was satisfactory. The staff knew some English, but they were also proficient with Google translate. The check in process was simple, as it uses multi-lingual software. We did have an issue with housekeeping schedules (we were on a shopping trip and had a ton of merch making it potentially difficult for them to clean) but it wasn't a huge deal, but be aware you may have to retrieve your own towels. Garbage and dirty towels are taken away daily by simply leaving them outside the door.
The room we had was for smaller groups (2-4) and included a retractable bunk bed, dining area (with table, bench and chairs) a VERY firm king bed (I like very firm but my wife had trouble) ductless heating/ac unit with remote, a large bathing room with adjustable shower nozzle height, a newer combo toilet/bidet, and most importantly a washing/drying laundry machine and a full kitchenette. (Note: The larger rooms are the ones with the dedicated dining area you see in the website's pictures.)
The laundry machine was a deciding factor for the trip. It allowed us to pack less leaving more room in our luggage for souvenirs and merchandise. Due to its size though we had to run it every day. It may be small, but it was far better than having to pack a full week's worth of clothes. Laundry soap is complimentary in the lobby, but the Lawson next door has an additional small selection of laundry detergents.
The full kitchenette consisted of a 2 burner induction stove, microwave, toaster oven, small (but not mini) fridge, sink, cutlery, plates, and cups. There is complimentary dish soap and a paper towel roll with dispenser.
The most important factor for us was the location. The station (pictured) is minutes away on foot which gave us easy access to Akihabara and Skytree. This also let us arrive easily from Narita by train. The Hotel also has contacts with van shuttles which took to Haneda when we left for much less than a taxi would have cost. In the immediate area there is a small but well stocked Lawson seconds away from the front door in addition to two grocery stores very close by. If you're not big on cooking there are numerous quality restaurants surrounding the station, in addition to the dozens upon dozens of eateries in Akihabara and adjacent stations less than 20 minutes away max. Additionally if you are a light sleeper Asukusabashi is a fairly quiet neighborhood with no major roads or highways near by. There is the occasional loud drunk salaryman later in the evenings because of "nomikai", but it is rare.
Overall this is an excellent choice for an extended stay hotel, especially if you're planning on shopping...
Read moreI thought I booked the Monday in Akihabara, we walked there first. They told us we were at the wrong hotel and walk 10 more mins. We were so disappointed but when we arrived at this location we were relieved. The staff there were very helpful and informed us that the room we booked was out of order. So they upgraded us to a concept room. I've been to Japan a few times and I knew one thing is the rooms are small and thought I might just get a few extra square feet. Boy was I wrong, we got this room which is like a palace by Tokyo standards. We have a separate tatami room with a 2nd TV which my son loved. There is storage all over the place and the room is thoughtfully equipped. You just have to make sure you take good care of the place because there is no makeup. Which is how it should be if you're living at home. The shower room is separate from the toilet room. The washer/dryer works brilliantly. We wake up each day to fresh new clothes. Plenty of outlets with a kitchenette and refrigerator, even a Balmuda toaster and a microwave. There is a Familymart on the corner and a 24 hour grocery store a few steps away. Walk out to the main street and there is a Sukiya where you never go hungry. 2 mins away is Asakusabashi satation on the Chuo line. You cannot go wrong staying here. It's just an amazing location and it's quiet here but it has everything you need. The room is also spotless and the facilities are in perfect shape. I don't know when this place opened but it feels brand...
