Tokyo Tarot Museum — Attraction in Tokyo

Traveled very far to visit this shop only to be turned away at the door because they were closing early. Arrived at 17:00, the Google listing said they closed at 19:00. Spent all day traveling to get here from Osaka and was extremely disappointed that we got turned away. For anyone looking to go, they require a reservation, or else a fee is added just for shopping around. Only learned this by reading the sign on the door when we got there. As someone who practices witchcraft, this was intended to be a highlight of our travels and it seems the people working here aren’t really into the messaging behind the tarot cards they sell. Wish I could have gone in to learn if it was a tourist trap, but unfortunately I’ll never know. I hope that seekers in Japan can find other places to go to get their supplies. A must-go for Tarot lovers if you're in Japan.

What I love the most is that you can take a card when entering the place, which gives a lovely surprise in addition to the complimentary tea.

But as other reviewers said, this is mainly a shop with books and exhibitions of special Tarot decks. There are places where you can sit and enjoy the atmosphere while trying out different decks.

As they sell Japanese decks as well as international ones, I'd recommend getting ones that are only available in Japan vs buying it abroad with the risk of high delivery and/or custom fee.

Great to visit this place a solo traveler, or with friends.

If you are into art, design, divination or psychological growth, I would highly recommend this museum.

Do note that walk-ins are not encouraged and reservations need to be made at least a day in advance. There is an admittance fee to enter the musuem and a time limit of 90 minutes.

It is more of a shop than an actual museum as it only has a few formal exhibits. However, they have an extensive catalog of diverse tarot decks and do provide a lot of decks for you to sample and admire. I was also pleased that they gave us each a welcome tarot card to bring back with us, and ended our session with warm cups of tea.
