I was surprised by this hotel. At this price range and at peak season, this is like an upgrade of hotels in this price range, even better than slightly more expensive hotels. Although not in the luxury range, it exceeded my expectation because the hotel is more modern, the room bigger and amenities better. It even included breakfast for the price.||Perhaps it is the location that makes it perhaps less desirable. It is a longer walk from the Asakusa subway station but not too long. There are hotels less than 10 minutes walk even less than 5 minutes walk but this is a good 12-15 minutes if you walk fast. If you don't mind the walk it is good. I don't mind even with heavy luggage. The walk is straight forward and easy, no stairs involved if you take the lift from the subway that comes up to just across the tourist information building. And if you take the street with the covered shops you can even look around at the shops and restaurants while walking there.||Check in was fast. Instead of keys or key cards, they give you a pass code. You key the code to enter your room as well as to enter the hotel at the ground floor between midnight and 7am. The sliding door are locked between these hours. Don't forget the code!||The room is bigger than hotels at this range. Decor is more modern. The usual amenities are there: fridge, kettle, tv, hairdryer, slippers... The bathroom also seem roomier and less of a step up from the room. There is a window which only looked to the wall of the next building. I didn't mind. I don't normally look out of the windows in a hotel room.||The supplied pillow was hard but you can choose other pillows at the second floor reception. There were also other free stuff at the lobby like ear plugs, combs, moisturizers, etc||Breakfast is served from 630am so my second morning I could not take as I left at 530am to catch my flight. The variety was limited though, some pastries, bread, spaghetti and some Japanese dishes which I didn't take. There was coffee, tea and juices. More variety for breakfast will be good. Also a luggage rack in the room will be perfect.||I would come back again gladly even though it...

Read moreThis was the first hotel I stayed in when I arrived in Japan. When I entered the room it was small as to be expected from rooms in Tokyo and the washroom was really small that you will be elbowing the wall most of the time when showering (I have stayed in other hotels throughout my Japan journey since and can say that they have bigger and spacier rooms and bathrooms compared to this one). The room was really clean and the bed was really comfy.
The breakfast buffet was from 6.30-8.30am but it was some of the most delicious and fresh breakfast that I have had in hotels. The ingredients they use are mostly organic and locally grown and their baked goods are freshly baked (I could tell from the amount of flakes which fell off the baked goods when eating it). The breakfast options besides the staples are different each day so it was a treat for me to see what they were serving each day.
Service was great (the staff can speak English to a degree) and the hotel has a wide range of amenities like different softness of pillows and toiletries to choose from. Do note that you are limited to 3 items per day (to avoid unnecessary wastage) and the toiletries are locked until the afternoon.
The hotel was situated conveniently to most of the major attractions of Asakusa that you can walk to most of them easily. For example, it was a 5 min walk to Senso-ji temple and 20min walk to the Tokyo Skytree.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel for short term stay for the breakfast, amenities and location in Asakusa but not...
