Had the best time at this Ryokan. We booked a room for 2 people at a very reasonable rate
This Ryokan/onsen may not be the fanciest one in town, but it is a pleasant place to stay. A stream flows on its side and there is very little foot traffic. The views are amazing from all directions and a train passes by every now and then.
The staff are locals that walk to work, and try their best to make their customers feel at home.
Usually ryokans have strict reservation rules and can be quite rigid with customers with tattoos. There are three private onsens, which don't require any reservations and are super quaint and clean.
Tips: Please clean after using any type of shared facility and especially bath related areas. Pick up your hair, drain the bath and wash away any excess bathing products. You'll make the next customers happy and make the staff's job...
Read moreWe checked the hotel photo's and reviews before booking and where pleasantly surprised on arrivel. The hotel looks really nice and the private baths are brilliant. The hotel does not have many rooms so you never have to wait for the baths. Rooms are clean, spacious and "minimalistic". Overall good atmosphere.
We did not check the shared baths (men and women separately) so can't judge that.
The breakfast is alright but nothing special. Something for improvement: maybe add a simple foldable drying rack. There was no good place to dry wet towels and we had to improvise something with rope.
And I almost forget: best beds and pillows we had in japan so far (compared with 4 other places)! Even better than the 6 times more expensive ryokan we experienced!
Overall: great...
