This small hotel is no more than 5 minutes walk from Yufuin station, as we walked up to the front door we were surprised (to put it mildly) to see a full-size model of a cow on the roof of the hotel. ||We were warmly welcomed by our host who spoke some English and took time and trouble to show us round the hotels facilities.||Our room on first floor (no lift) was of a reasonable size with WC. Next door was a bathroom with washbasin and shower which is shared with a neighbouring room. There were several other bathrooms further down the corridor. There is a communal hot spring pool males until 8pm, females from 8 to 11, when we were there, best check in case times change, but best of all two smaller onset suitable either for a single person or a couple.||Breakfast at 1000Y seemed good value. It was western style with egg, sausage, toast and yoghourt. The hotel does not serve evening meals, but has the facility for guests to microwave food and eat in the breakfast lounge. We were recommended a good, reasonably priced restaurant nearby.||The decor is eclectic to say the least with Navaho dream catchers displayed alongside New England prints, Italian Pottery and Nursery Rhyme characters. Corridors have hand-painted scenes from around the world giving the hotel a quite unique feel.||Best of all our host, who seemed to be running the hotel single-handed, did everything he could to make our stay as pleasant as possible.||I would highly recommend that you give this...
Read more5 stars all the way!!! My favourite accommodation in my whole Japan trip in September. They had an indoor and outdoor onsen, good when you’re tired after a long day of walking or waking up early. The owner (a couple), especially the old lady is so cute and friendly 🥹 she’s so nice and very sweet! She even offered to walk us to the station or something, but we didn’t want to bother her or make her take long walks so we had to refuse. She wakes up early and exercise and check the temperature of the onsen. Truly a hardworking elderly woman who inspires me to be just like her when I grow old. Thank you so much lady, I’ll never forget your kindness! If I ever come back to Yufuin, I’ll definitely stay here again. Lots of freebies too btw, like toothbrushes, hair ties, body towels, etc. Just a quick note — the path leading to the pension can be quite dark at night (no street lamps or whatever) so be sure to turn on your phone’s flashlight to the...
Read morehas both indoor & outdoor onsen, the outdoor one is so cool and big!! i had the whole onsen to myself during my time as there were nobody else (mid sept) really kind elderly couple host, gave us sweets, sent us off at the door and always attended to our queries when we need help a calming cottage vibes, i forgot to take photo of the interiors but they were one of the best for a guesthouse(?) that i have seen 😍 vintage decoration everywhere~ i picked this place because it was one of the most affordable stay in yufuin (maybe because it is further from station), but i would like to stay again if i visit!
