At first, I must say that I don't like to write this kind of reviews, but as a traveller, and after one of the worst situations in more than a year travelling, I think it's what I have to do.
In the second day of stay, somebody of the staff stole me a plastic bag with many clothes inside that I bought the day before. When I realized this steal (the bag was in a locker, blocked with my padlock), It was at night and I've tried to talk with the staff but they acted as a criminal organization, treating me as a lier, hidding the videos of the security cameras, and very very disrepectfully (talking rude, don't looking at my eyes, not listening...)
The most surprising thing is the day after, when I was thinking about how they did It because the locker was locked, I discovered that as least 3 of the lockers of the room (1 of them was my locker) where not well fixed on the top (picture) and It was easy to open them from outside, so from an employee that knows this (as guest you don't know It) it's very easy to do It there's nobody in the room, because there are no security cameras in there.
I went to the police to file a complaint, but they didn't do nothing (Kuala Lumpur is not a nice city to feel safe against this kind of issues, you feel unprotected as a traveller).
After all this, I've showed to the manager the trick of the locker and he acted motivated for the fear of the police and fixed the locker before the eventually arrival of the police (as I said, you cannot trust the police here, because they never came).
After three days involved in that situation, they acted as if it never happened and I've lost my clothes (100 USD of value).
So you are free to come here, and book a bed, but as a traveller, you must know that if you have any issue it's going to get hard to solve It, because, as I said, they don't act as humans, they act as criminals. And it's been awful to feel that frustration.
Thanks for reading. From a traveller to the travellers. For a better...
Read moreA very nice, cozy and one of the most recommended hostel near the city’s most happening place Bukit Bintang. It’s hardly 10 min walk from the famous pavilion street of the area, many restaurants and cafés around. The hostel organises city tours, pub crawl, pool party and games nights. They provide hi speed wifi, with access to paid laundry and free to use kitchen equipments. There’s a 24-hour tv section where guests can watch movies and series as per their choice. The rooms are well maintained and guests observe silent hours between 9 pm to 7 am. They do have towels for guests but they charge 5 RM for each towel so you can choose to either bring your own or take one from there. The good thing about the hostel is the free basic continental breakfast including toast, butter and jam. Tea and coffee is available for free but if you want your beverage with milk, they’ll charge you extra. Overall a decent experience since you get to meet strangers from around the world, go on tours with them and make...
Read moreReally enjoyed my time with Mingle - the social side is brilliant. Loads of credit to Tammy for holding things together.
I stayed in Poolside - comfortable beds. Nice, relaxed feel with a small but clean pool. Would stay again.
Chinatown very popular and much more social. I didn't stay here (sells out fast) but the events join up across all Mingle locations which was great.
Also stayed in Highstreet Mingle. Staff were friendly and helpful. But to be honest, I'd stay in stay in one of the others rather than Highstreet if I was coming back - the price is lower for Highstreet but the rooms are hot with no privacy, pool looks great in the photos but is basically unusable due to being situated in the middle of the public...
