In fact, the rainforest park is located right next to one of Malaysiaâs most recognizable landmarks, the Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL Tower).
As the only patch of tropical rainforest still standing in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the park serves as the cityâs green lung and is home to flora and fauna unique to Malaysiaâs tropical rainforest. The 10.5-hectare forest reserve was also gazetted as a Wildlife Reserve and Bird Sanctuary in 1934 and 1950 respectively, with a segment of about 5 hectares identified as a Virgin Jungle Reserve. When visiting KL Tower, visitors should certainly consider stopping by KL Forest Eco Park, as it is located just beside the towerâs entrance and requires no entrance fee.
Over here, nature guides run daily guided tours at 11am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm and 4:30pm, and more information can be obtained from forest reserveâs dedicated Visitor Center. Within the forest reserve is a wide range of flora, including creepers, ferns, rare herbs, giant bamboo grasses and climbers. Huge tropical tree species can also be found in this jungle, such as meranti, keruing, chengal and pulai.
Those who are lucky might spot the two local species of monkeys that live in the park, namely the Long-tailed Macaque and Silvered Langur. Other varieties of fauna that roam the area include birds, snakes and squirrels. A free-of-charge camp site is available for lovers of nature who wish to enjoy the lush greenery of the jungle.
Joggers may also enjoy exploring the forest trail, and there is even an outdoor obstacle course where a little stretching and body lifting can be done.
All visitors to the forest reserve should take precautionary measures as there are some slopes along the forest trails that are quite steep. There is also a ladder section that could be tricky to navigate, so visitors should dress casually, ideally sports wear which includes hiking or running shoes. Opening hours 7.00am to 6.00pm daily including weekends and public holidays.    Read moreIt's a nice experience to walk through the canopy walk among the rain forest which is located in all the high rise concrete building. Such a sharp contrast and yet so harmony in view. The park actually designed in such a way that's more family friendly. Inside the park, you can either decide to hiked the trails inside or exit to KL tower located next to the park. For hikers, mosquito repellent or long pants are recommended because lots of huge big mosquitoes inside the jungle. Occasionally you can spot...
Read moreI recently visited Bukit Nanas Eco Park in Kuala Lumpur and was disappointed, especially given the RM40 entrance fee. The park felt poorly maintained, with the canopy walk needing repairs and trails that were confusing due to inadequate signage. Despite its central location, the experience lacked value as there were no guides, limited staff presence, and minimal educational elements to justify the cost. For the price, I expected better facilities and a more engaging experience, but unfortunately,...
