Stayed for a couple of nights & prior to our stay when we contacted the hotel there was no response at all so we had to go through the booking company. Not a great first impression. ||The hotel is not too far from the Masjid Jamek metro stop with easy access to Chinatown & the Central Market. ||The lobby of the hotel looks quite nice but the toilets were down a corridor & looked pretty grotty. We could leave our luggage in storage but there is no security as the door isn't locked & anyone can access the luggage room. ||There was often just one staff at reception so it was often a long wait if you needed to speak to someone. The lifts are pretty slow too. ||When we just arrived, there was a guest complaining about their room so we didn't have high hopes about its quality. ||As we had two separate bookings, we had emailed the hotel in advance to merge them so we didn't have to change rooms. This was not done, of course, so while we could stay in the same room, the admin related to the tourism tax had to be done again the next day & the 50 RM deposit transferred to the next day. ||The room itself was spacious but workmanship was poor & cleanliness wasn't the best. There was a stain on the toilet which hadn't been cleaned, dust on the surfaces & cupboards, stains on the the bed sheets, a shaky tap at the sink, etc, etc. Only one roll of toilet paper was provided, and one soap, one bottle of shower gel & one bottle of shampoo. ||The mattress was comfortable & the pillows were quite thick & soft. We didn't have a bad night's sleep but there was quite alot of slamming of doors in the middle of the night the first night we were there. ||We asked for more toilet paper & toiletries the morning of the second day & yet no one had cleaned the room & therefore the items we requested were not replenished. We phoned the reception when we realised this & it was a long wait so we had to phone again to get the things brought to us. Housekeeping is clearly not the strength of the hotel. ||Breakfast starts at 7.30am & you get a selection of cooked food - we had fried rice, kuay teow/ bee hoon, eggs, sausages, curry puffs/ veggie patties, beans during our stay. There is bread & a toaster, butter & jam, 2 kinds of fruit a day (we had pineapple, melon, apple & watermelon during our stay), cornflakes, tea, coffee & cordial (mango/ orange). ||Breakfast was probably one of the positives of the hotel. The food was pretty decent & you can get your fill before starting the day. ||All in all, the stay at Wyndham was pretty average. As a chain, you expect there to be minimum standards for the hotel but it was lacking in a number of areas. There are quite a few hotels at the same price point, so best to shop around! It's not a hotel we will rush to return to...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE. Listen to the reviews and 1 star ratings, this place is a trap and they will scam you.
We arrived 7:00pm and informed someone is in our room about to checkout, and it’s not going to be ready till 8. We are give two options: Go to another hotel for tonight or wait. We pick the later and arrive back at 9pm to be informed that the guest still haven’t checked out. I said “you said they were leaving at 7” and the lady at the counter responded with “I know”, and laughed. I have a feeling they are over booking locally. We ended up waiting till 9:30pm to checkin, and paid 50RM deposit. The man at the counter asked us if we had paid tourist tax, and I said I wasn’t sure and informed him that Agoda handles all fees/tax. He said unless we had explicit proof, we would have to pay, so we ended up paying 30RM to him in cash. If we had showed up at 3:00pm, would we have to wait 6 1/2 hours to check in?
When we got in the room, there was evidence it wasn’t properly cleaned. Hair in the bed, AC leaking onto the bed, we pleaded with the staff to give us bedding that was not stained. Wifi didn’t work due to too many connections. The next day we decided to leave and I managed to find a tourist tax receipt from Agoda and showed the same man at the counter, to which he responded “why didn’t you show me yesterday”. I assume they are able to see what I’ve paid for in thier booking system. He refunded me the deposit and extra fees, but would not refund me tourist fees or days we didn’t stay. There was likely already somone staying the room the night we left. He was pretty annoyed with us leaving and asked us what hotel we were going and why we even booked to stay with them.
The staff were rude and lied multiple times, which caused us a lot of stress and distrust in this hotel. We didn’t feel safe in that environment so decided to leave. This is the only time this has ever happened in 3 months of travel.
Even after a dispute they have lied AGAIN and said they provided a full refund and apology which are...
Read moreI stayed as solo traveler for 5 days, 4 nights at Ramada Encore. I booked a superior room with queen bed. the hotel itself is located next to a small Hindu temple. Overall my experience with this hotel was a weird one.
pros: the location of the hotel is great. it's located right at the center of the city (chinatown), if you're aiming to go sightseeing & shopping spree on streetmarket, this hotel is a good option for you. there are also several 24/7 stores including a 7/11 minimarket nearby the hotel.
cons: my room was very small. I even don't have enough space to put my laptop (16 inch) on the wall desk they provide. cleanliness is not really great. it was okay. typical an old hotel. I had broken toilet cabinet. amenities is not really great. I was given only 2 toothbrushes & 2 bottle of drinking water (600ml). the drinking water is replenished every time my room made up by the staffs. soap & shampoo & 2 bath towels were provided. anything else? NADA. ZERO. EMPTY. no fridge. no room slippers. no tissue et al. security: when I stayed at this hotel, I honestly don't feel secure. at first time I entered my room, I found that my door lock was broken. It's honestly was fixed by the staff quite fast. BUT, my concern is when the cleaning staff made up my room EVERY SINGLE DAY even though I already asked them NOT to. I turned off button to request room-cleaning everyday, but I found my room always made up by the staff. AND several of my items were not placed on the original location. Oh and also breakfast was not really good. Need massive improvement. But honestly I didn't expect more fancy breakfast from this hotel.
Overall it is weird experience. Wouldn't really recommend it to family traveler. I even was asked to deposit some money before I can enter my room (which was returned at the end...
