I recently visited Adyar Ananda Bhavan in Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown, hoping for an authentic Indian meal, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired.
The location itself is quite central, which is great for tourists and locals alike. The ambiance was decent, with a clean dining area and a good variety of dishes on the menu. However, the service was a major letdown.
Firstly, the wait time for our food was much longer than expected. Despite the restaurant not being overly crowded, it took nearly 40 minutes for our order to arrive. When the food finally did come, it wasn’t served hot, which was very disappointing. Indian cuisine is best enjoyed fresh and piping hot, and serving it lukewarm took away from the overall experience.
The staff didn’t seem very attentive either. We had to flag down the waiters multiple times to follow up on our order and even to get water refills. It felt like customer service was not a priority here.
If the restaurant can work on improving the speed of service and ensuring that the food is served hot, it would make a significant difference. Adyar Ananda Bhavan has great potential with its wide menu, but the poor service really dampened what could have been an enjoyable...
Read moreOne of the worst indian food experiences I have ever had in Malaysia.
Price gougers and seem to cater to the tourist trap market.
I have never gone to an Indian / mamak restaurant in Malaysia that doesnt serve Milo Ais or Teh Ais, but only serves hot Milo or hot Teh.
We ordered a roti canai, a thosai, one hot milo, and one teh tarik.
Hot milo: Cost RM5, came in a small tin cup about the size they give in milo trucks. Absolute daylight robbery for something so tiny without ais to cost more than typical Milo Ais at other mamaks/indian restaurants.
Hot teh tarik: came in a similar tin cup, but was not teh tarik. Just black tea.
Thosai: ok this was actually one of the best thosais i had... but it costs Rm6 tho...
Roti canai: technically its called something else on the menu but it was crispy and nice. Just came out late.
Ironic that a restaurant with the words "High class Indian veg. Restaurant" on the wall inside has such low class service and value for money.
Staff were a mixed bag... didn't seem like they understood english or malay well. Some were friendly. One or two not the...
Read moreThere is a cheaper "Sri Ganesha" veg.&non.veg. canteen very close to here, so most people prefer to eat there. But overall here is better atmosphere cause less crowd, cooler air, cleaner tables and plates.. Food is okey, though so far I only tried plain dosa. It is served excellently as you can see on the attached photo (Actually, it is very large, but on my picture it is already partly eaten by me). Just I don't understand why food is so expensive here? If you lower your prices, more customers will come. Now you lose money, because your restaurant has many tables and many servicemen, and you pay high rent probably. But you receive very few visitors due to high prices, so you get very little income. 80-90% of your tables are empty. It's a miracle you're able to pay salaries to your staff. I give 4 stars for service due to slightly high prices. Your smile is sweet however, I feel very blessed to visit you and to eat...
