Despite not having air-cond, this is an airy and pleasant restaurant to dine in at lunch time. Hindi songs play in the background and the owners are welcoming and friendly. Do ask for recommendations if in doubt.
The Mutton Biryani is Highly Recommended. Fluffy and well cooked rice with chunks of mutton which literally melts in your mouth. Served with a Cucumber Raita and Spicy Chutney on the side for some variation while you enjoy this delicious dish.
Aloo Pratha (chapatti stuffed with potato) was soft and tasty as it should be. The accompanying mutton curry was equally flavourful with a mild spice level. My Punjabi colleague who had this could vouch that it would beat most of the Punjabi restaurants around KL who serve this too.
The fried pakora was a tad oily but still tasty and satisfying. Best eaten with the accompanying chutney.
Palak (spinach) Chicken is not on the menu but you can ask them if they can cook it for you. Using the same spinach base as the ubiquitous Palak Paneer (Cottage Cheese), the chicken is infused with the flavours of the gravy. This is a great accompaniment for their soft pratha or any of the other breads on offer.
Do have the masala milk tea. They use quality tea leaves which makes for a satisfying and not overly sweet tea to end the meal perfectly.
The family who run this stall used to operate a high end restaurant called Thaba in Kampung Baru Ampang area in Ulu Klang. I’ve dined at the restaurant some 20 years ago and their Crab Masala was the stuff of legends. Unfortunately crab is not on their menu here but what is available is done with care and you can feel the home style cooking in their food. You will see some of their unique decorations from their old restaurant on the walls in this stall. This is a true hidden gem in this part of KL and not...
Read moreThe restaurant was empty when we arrived, which surprised us a bit. Unfortunately, many items on the menu were unavailable. We initially ordered pakoras as a starter, but when the rest of our food arrived, we were informed that the pakoras were also unavailable without any prior notice.
We ordered lemon juice and mango juice, but the mango juice didn’t arrive until we were already halfway through our meal.
For mains, we had masala chicken, chili chicken and chicken biryani. The food was tasty and had a comforting, home-style flavor. The aloe paratha were so delicious.
The service had a warm, homely feel thanks to the kind ladies who attended to us. However, it could definitely use some improvement. One man, possibly the owner, kept walking around and staring at us without ever greeting or smiling, which made things feel awkward. To add to that, before we even had the chance to order chai, we were asked if we were ready to pay, despite it being only around 7 PM and nowhere near...
Read moreWouldn't have noticed this hidden gem if i dont work someplace nearby. I have frequented this restaurant multiple times with my colleagues. Really a blessing for us they managed to survive the mco.
Their mutton briyani is THE BEST i have tried so far nearby this area. Portion is very generous and it is more than enough to stuff 2 small eaters like myself. Price is reasonable too at RM16.
This is collective options, as few of us did takeaway for family members and all their feedbacks are equally positive . Even for people who don't usually eat mutton.
The bosses are very friendly and helpful too.
If you really in the mood for briyani (or north indian delicacy) and dont mind the small setup and less nicer ambience, this is the place u must at least try once.
Will add a few photo when i...
