Now where do I start... There were many twists and turns before I finally decided on my stay at Rover's inn. Finally, after booking and cancelling several accommodations , I decided on this one. Upon looking at the pictures and the price, I thought the entire experience of staying here was just going to be so-so. But the entire experience really exceeded my expectations! Upon stepping foot into the hotel, I was greeted by the melody of soft jazz wafting into the lobby. The owner warmly greeted me with a smile when I arrived at night, and he filled me in on the rules of the place. Maybe it's because I've been staying amongst the hustle and bustle of Singapore for too long - but the quaint, quiet and peaceful surroundings of the hotel felt absolutely refreshing and peaceful.I also really like the fact that the management makes it a point to make sure that noise is reduced to a minimum. The hotel room turned out to be really spacious too, and for the price , it is really quite reasonable. There is a lounge and a cute outdoor dining area for guests to consume their meals. Water, coffee and tea are also provided. In the lounge area, there are also some books that guests can read ☺️I chose the classic - men are from Mars, women are from Venus. On the last day of my stay, Jessie forgot to return me my deposit and she specially called me up to make arrangements so she could return me the money. Really thankful for her honesty. Facilities wise, the only think I would really have wished could be included was a hair dryer! I couldn't find one and I really needed it to dry my hair. But I guess the hotel management would need more income to upgrade their facilities ? For the price, I really can't complain.☺️Another thing is the walls are kinda thin? So sometimes I can hear the other guests in other rooms which kinda disrupts my sleep. Other than that, I'm really satisfied with my entire...
Read moreI arrived at the guesthouse and thought it looked okay. From the outside, it looks acceptable and the 'check-in' was fine. In fact, the staff are very friendly, so I give them credit for that.||||The problem lies with the room. The rooms are simply furnished, as you would expect, but the pillow had a very stale smell. I mean, really strong smell of moisture. It was so bad that I had to sleep on my hands to protect me from the smell.||||The other thing is that the walls are paper thin, so you can hear every little sound from every one else. I remember being awoken by the sound of some person walking along the corridor and going into the 'kitchen' area to make toast. I knew he was making toast as I could even smell it! And I heard the entire operation of the microwave oven.||||Of course, you hear coughing, spluttering and all kinds of other sounds. If you're a light sleeper like me, it's hell!||||Also, it was freezing cold when I was there. Well, there is a light blanket and the smelly pillows and that's it. I couldn't sleep properly as I was shivering. And I'm from England! Can you imagine?||||I was looking forward to a hot shower, but the water came out cold. Ice cold. I couldn't get the hot water to work, so I actually had a cold shower! Twice! I won't go into the details of how I coaxed myself to shower, but it took some time!||||Well, the positives? The service. The staff are really very nice. The coffee was okay too. Free tea and coffee for guests. They have wifi in the rooms too. ||||But the big question, would I stay here again? No. Not if I...
Read moreThere are many better places in Tanah Rata. This one has bad service; very dissatisfied. I stayed here February 2016 in a double with private bath.
Building is one level separated into two sections, each with one shared bath and their respective common areas inside, all comfortable and well maintained. There is also a large uncovered patio with good tables and umbrelllas, as well as a happy covered patio with seating convenient for fresh air and chance meetings.
They have free tea and coffee, basic kitchen access with common use guest refrigerator, two bread toasters and two rice cookers. Wifi was unusable at least 90% of the 4 days I was there.
Service is bad, manager often absent for half hour to an hour at prime times. When I asked if they had laundry service, he said sarcastically, "Yeah, hand wash!" without humor, elaboration or suggestion where I could do it.
After I'd paid for 4 nights upon arrival and then asked a bit later in the day to stay one more night, which he assured me after consulting his registry in front of me would not be a problem, instructing me to pay later for the fifth night, he ultimately failed to honor my room reservation for that extra night and claimed not to recall his promise.
One guest who'd been there a day or two in the dorm said it well when asked by an incoming lodger, idle during one of the manager's many extended absences, "It's not terrible if you're only staying a...
