I was GRANDPAcking in Zipolite for 6 weeks. I stayed all 6 weeks at the Brisa.||Almost all the establishments that face the beach have palapa sheltered restaurants / bars in front and lodging in the back. These lodgings can vary from wood huts, to simple concrete structures and often include hammocks and places to pitch tents.||The Brisa has budget rooms, no tents, and no restaurant / bar. On the beach it has hammocks for guests to laze in.||There are, basically, 3 types of room: (1) for MXP500 / night you get a seaview room with private bathroom and balcony overlooking the beach (2) for MXP250 you get a Double Bed(s) / Twin courtyard room with private bathroom (3) for about MXP100 you get a simple courtyard room with shared bathroom.||There are no aircon rooms ... only fan.||The shared bathrooms are a bit 'rough' ... I would recommend taking a room with private bathroom. You only get a 'Cool Water Shower'.||Daniel, the owner, is willing to negotiate better prices for long terms stays. You can get a courtyard Double for as little as MXP3,000 / month.||The lack of a restaurant / bar is actually a boon rather than a hindrance. It means that you get those lovely hammocks instead of the noise in the evening.||The 'A Nice Place on the Beach' hotel is next door and does a reasonable breakfast (it is pricier to eat on the beach ... but it's worth it for the ambience and the view).||The wifi is poor and erratic ... but you can use the one at A Nice Place which is more stable and faster.||The rooms are serviced every other day but you need to ask them to...
Read moreFirst time I went was 2004. Didn't know then that I'd be back 6 or 7 times so far. I completely agree with all the previous positive reviews, but the sentiment that I definitely would second is the friendliness and charm of the locals and Brisas staff... When I get to Zipolite, I put my swim trunks on and that is basically all I wear the entire time. Sometimes the flip-flops or a sarong, but you can go pretty much anywhere without a shirt including restaurants. Plenty comfortable in the evening as well. The location of Brisa is awesome because you can sit there all day and watch the "beach pass by". There is no place I have ever done so little and been so satisfied. Also, the road that it backs up to doesn't have much through traffic- cars are sparse and go slow, not much honking. It's not really even a road by Mexico standards. Huge advantage over the other side of the beach, IMO. There is a bodega right across from the gates, so much of my day is spent walking the hundred or so meters there from my hammock so I can trade my warm, empty caguama bottle (big beer) for a nice cold one! Early evenings are the best, as the light gets to that magic hour and a lot of the locals are off work or school and out frolicking on the beach. Beach...
Read moreAfter traveling alone in Mexico for the last month and a half, I can honestly say this has been my favourite spot. Everything from Daniel's friendly and warm welcome to the kind and considerate staff was absolutely wonderful. Daniel goes beyond what is expected to make his guests feel welcomed and comfortable. I started off in one of the cabanas, which was simple but nice and dark, perfect after a hot day in the sun. When some space opened up, Daniel quickly moved me to a larger room with a bathroom. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and are a great value for the price. The hotel is located beach front with hammocks out front to relax and enjoy a good book. It is in between two great restaurants, one that has a great 2 for 1 cocktail special and the other with the best breakfasts in town. Brisamarina really encompasses the energy of Zipolite, a place that is laid back, open, and welcoming to all travelers. I feel like I not only had a wonderful stay but gained some new friends. I certainly will be back and absolutely recommend staying here. Thanks Daniel for the wonderful three...
