Alma y Mar Hotel & Suites by BFH — Hotel in Playa del Carmen

We made a reservation for this place months ago when people did not travel much due to Covid. We booked through #Booking.com at a price that was about the same as simular places did charge. Today (months later) we received a message that our reservation is canceled because of a pricing error in the system.

If there is any error in the system you notice this soon and notify your guests soon after the booking. You explane the error and offer a stay at the correct price.

What seems to be happening here is that although we took the risk to go book our uncertain vacation. We are now being kicked out because it is getting more busy than anticipated and a bigger profit can be made. Alma y Mar just makes their greed our problem, because we have to try and find a new place to stay close to our vacation date during a busy period.

This is rude, not customer friendly and a disgrace to the wonderful Mexican...

This place is a dump. Avoid by all means and try not to prepay it.||We used to visit here years ago when it was a part of Mariposa Hotel (around the corner).||Now I wouldn't want to send my enemy here. The new owner (whoever that is) made the place run down to the ground.||If you prepay it, you have no choice but to walk out and lose your entire money. Booking.com is of no help whatsoever. They just told me to write a review. ||Rather than two bedrooms confirmed by phone with Booking, we got one bedroom. Water pressure reminds that of pissing cat, than it stops altogether. We used to wash and shower using a pot of heated water. The towels are ripped, the street music is pumping. The guys in reception do not speak a word of English. They use the telephone translator app. to communicate with people. ||Try not to use Amex or Master Card. They dont know how to handle the terinal.||AVOID...

We chose it because it was advertised as pet friendly, but it is not, their contract does not have any clause about extra charges but they applied us one because of the dog, besides, the contract does not have clauses banning pets. It is advertised as a family place for 6 people offering 2 beds and a couch, but the couch is old and uncomfortable. The bathroom in the shower has no door and everything gets wet. They do not answer the phone in the front and they did not send me an invoice
