Hotel Zitoune ( spelling on my card ) is in the Medina of Marrakesh and is ideal for walking around the old city. I stayed here for 7 nights. The two staff here over my stay both spoke reasonable English and could not have been more helpful. My room ( room 4 ) was at the top of stairs above reception. It was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the pillow too. Although small and cell-like it had everything I needed. There is a basin in the room. The door is very solid. I am a light sleeper so being just above reception was an issue for me as I could hear people coming back and talking at reception. The streets in the Medina area are very narrow so the only vehicles you'll see and hear are mopeds which tend to make a lot of noise. This would be an issue wherever you stayed and not just at this hotel. The shared bathroom just around the corner from my room was clean ( dependent on how the other guests left it ) and he shower was very good. The hotel is only a short walk from the main square. My biggest problem was not having a phone capable of using the internet. Going around the soaks without the internet was very difficult. The younger of the two staff helped me book a couple of trips. A driver met me at the hotel. I would recommend using the reception staff to book the trips for you. I paid under £10 a night for my stay at Hotel Zitoune. Superb value. I felt that my belongings were very safe in...

It's very close to the main square, but yet the noise from the square at night does not affect the hotel. As it is the summer season, we were afraid when the room did not have a fan/air conditioner but only a window, however it cooled down at night.
Mr Abu Bakar (the staff there) has the best service & we felt just at home! He gave us great recommendations for places to visit and affordable authentic local food places.
He helped us book an affordable 3D2N Sahara Desert Tour which included a 2 night stay, breakfast and dinner, transportation in an air-conditioned mini-bus, and camel rides for about 700DH each (~€70). He was so helpful and gave us tips how we can enjoy the trip within our budget too.
He allowed us to keep our bags in the hotel for the 2 nights we were not around despite not booking a room there.
He also helped us with airline ticket printing at a nearby hotel at an odd hour, and arranged for an affordably priced taxi back in the middle of the morning!
Mr Abu Bakar is a true asset...
Read moreWe stayed at a bad time because they were doing renovation, so everywhere was chaos and dirty and our room smelled strongly like paint the entire time, which made our entire stay there unbearable. We told the guy about this and I think he got angry? Maybe because of language barrier.. Anyway, they should have told us about this when we made a reservation so minus point on this.||||The good thing is the location is very close to the big market, and it's quiet at night.||||For 1 or 2 people I think the rooms are okay, but more than that then it's just too small. ||||Overall, it is recommended for 1 or 2 people and before you make reservation ask first if they are still doing renovation. If yes, then maybe it's better to find other...
