This was my worst hotel experience ever. I really like low-standard hotels (e.g. I really enjoyed multiple hotels in the "Chungking Manisons"), but this one was just bad.||||Good things:||- Good location||- there works a guy who is called "Youssef"; he is ok||||Bad things:||- I booked a room with a bathroom. But when I was there, they said "no, there is no bathroom". Wtf! We talked a bit and finally I thought whatever; I can handle this.||- You have to pay cash (that's ok), but they were really annoyed, because I had not the exact amount of money. Then we did a mix of MAD and USD to||get an as good matching amount as possible (of course more than the initial amount). But, of course, they used a really bad USDMAD conversion. I mean really: You have to pay cash, but they can't handle it if the guest has 600 MAD and the room costs 535 MAD? They cannot return 65 MAD?||- They want to sell you day-trips: DONT DO THIS! They are way to expensive; just book them on tripadvisor. I actually booked some tours before I went to holiday. I told them about this and they were really pissed of and asked (not in a friendly way): "Where did you book the tours? Why not here? ...". I mean WTF! But check the prices, you will see what I mean.||- The room was ok, despite being a bit dirty. At least it was visually ok, but:||- It was so noisy. All day long. All night long. You can hear anything from inside the building and from outside the building (see the pictures). And the noise doesn't stop at 10:00 pm. You have to wait long.||- The bed was really hard (for me it worked somehow, but the girl next door really had a problem with it, because of her back).||- The bathroom was terrible: It had a shower-toilet combo (thats ok), but it was dirty (of course) and the floor is just always wet. Is is water? Maybe. Except for taking a shower, I was never there without shoes.||- The staff is not really friendly.||- If you ask for a towel you probably won't get one. Ask a few times and you get one (not that a big problem, but annoying).||||I highly recommend you to avoid this location. Pay 50% more and go to a...
Read moreIn all fairness but the reviews here are rediculous and partial impudent. The owner of this little but charming hotel works his heart out so that the customers have everything they need. Whether it is toilet paper, or a towel, or a taxi, or a friendly chat you want Yousseff is 24/7 available at the reception for you speaking at least 4 different languages. ||Obviously it is no five star wellness hotel but that is also not what the room price is saying. For a small price you get a clean room with four walls, a window, a door and a cosy bed in the middle of the city. If you step out of the door you basically are directly on the market.|Of course if you take the room with the double bed and the toilett and the shower you will sleep right next to the reception. Will you here some chatter and maybe other guests checking in? Obviously. Will you here the motorcycles passing by the hotel through the windows? Obviously you will to some extend. But honestly ask your yourself what kind of luxury do you expect for 10€ a night?! Just pack some god damn oropax and stop complaining about things totally normal for a local arabic hotel or do not book a hotel in the middle of the city. There are no airtight massive doors but charming oriental wooden doors with tinted glass and a lockbar. You will not find two washbasins and a bd and a shower cabin in the bathroom but just a small sink and the shower directly integrated in the bathroom. |You just can't write a review about a hotel like this in a land like morocco having your european hotel standards in mind. It is not fair. ||To summarize:|-very nice, kind, helpfull hotel owner|-nice and clean room|-very reasonable prices|-minimalistic interior|-Transfer from and to the airport was organized for us|-roof terrace where you can wath the sunrise or sunset|-community room|-you will hear some noise through the doors so bring oropax|-super central location|||Would I book it again?|My wife and I had planned a trip to Marrakesh for four days and wanted to see the city for a low budget. We absoloutly got what we wanted and expected. So yes, I...
Read moreThere were two stays at this hotel. First I, as a European, stayed there for two nights.||Very small rooms, but I didn’t need more than a bed and a table.||But the bathroom wasn’t cleaned within these two days and was awfully dirty the third day. Don’t want to describe it further.||||But the roof terrace has an absolutely gorgeous view over the city!||||Youssef was very friendly to me. Actually he flirted openly. Not a subjective view, even my friends recognized this.||I have no problem with this generally, not at all. But now we come to the second booking...||||This time I booked a room for a Moroccan friend. He registered himself as any other guest, payed as any other guest.||He wasn’t treated half as friendly as an European, but he wasn’t offended by this.||||In the evening we wanted to visit the gorgeous roof-terrace. Three European guys, two of them guest at Dar Youssef, me and our Moroccan friend.||The guy downstairs tried to stop us first (actually he stopped the Moroccan guy only) very unfriendly. But we showed him our room-keys and insisted to go upstairs. He hesitated but let us pass.||When we were upstairs Youssef came, very upset, and asked our friend to leave. He was highly aggressive and discussed hard with our friend, wo way very offended.||He told him that the terrace is for Europeans only, not for locals.||We insisted on staying together, as our friend way a paying guest.||So he asked us all to leave.||He triefte tell us that it way illegal in Morocco for locals and tourists to spend time together. Which was a rude lie. Bullshit.||His behavior made very clear that he suspected us all four having a sexual affair.||||In the end the question is if he was just a racist or jealous.||||I’ve never seen something like this before, at many travels. ||Highly embarrassing. ||So better stay away...
