Riad RK Suites & Spa — Hotel in Marrakesh Prefecture

We booked this place after reading all the rave reviews on TA. Unfortunately, we were rather disappointed with our stay. The place was clean, and the basics were fine, but there were a few things that we did not like too much:|- The gentleman who met us on our first night was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, starting on the next day, we didn’t see him again. The other staff members we had serving breakfast or staffing the reception for the next few days were not that helpful when we asked for advice and suggestions and were somewhat snooty.|- Part of the online deal we had booked was supposed to include a dinner on one of the nights we stayed. We needed to book this ahead of time (tell them in the morning to make sure they had time to find ingredients and cook for the night). We told the staff member in the morning of our second day that we’d like dinner that night after a day trip. When we got back that night, he basically pleaded ignorance. We’re not sure if we were not clear or if he misunderstood, but it was quite annoying to have to navigate the Medina again after a long day out just to go get something to eat. The next day we tried to get this dinner again, but were told the deal only included dinner for one person. This may have been on us for not reading the details as carefully, but I do think the language online is purposely cryptic.|- The bathroom in our room was rather damp smelling and humid. I don’t believe there was an exhaust anywhere in the bathroom.|- The breakfasts were nice, but it was definitely a carb overload! A lot of different types of bread most days, and since we stayed for several days, it did get a little old after the first few days.||Overall an ok stay. Underwhelmed ……|Pros:|Great location very close to the square, taxi’s and shops.|Clean rooms.|Lovely hospitable night manager (Hamza) typically Moroccan who was happy to go the extra mile with a smile.|Lunchtime food good and enjoyable when available!|Comfy mattress.|Good air conditioning in bedroom area.||Cons: room 7 dark (no natural light) and noisy (continual banging like someone hammering a nail in a wall between 8 am and 6 pm ish).|Frustratingly poor (Dail up speed) WiFi. If you want to use the WiFi regularly to search / book restaurants, tours / upload photos etc, on your own device do not stay here!|No complimentary water in room. We paid for all the water despite it being 45 degrees.|Poor hospitality by owner and day manager. Felt more of an irritation than guest. Sadly not the experience I have had in other friendlier Riads.|Breakfast coffee, juice and carb overload. Lots of bread with one additional item per day eg, day (1), plain omelette, (2) yoghurt, (3) grapes, (4) banana, (5) plain omelet etc ….. Asked for a yoghurt two days on trot and was told ‘no’ by the owners son ~ it was grape day not yoghurt day 🤷🏻‍♀️.|Plunge pool although cold and welcoming, given the daily heat, had floating bacteria growth. Please clean and sanitise!!||Left feeling underwhelmed with the Riad overall. It was OK but nothing special. Superbe Riad mais malheureusement nous avons été déçus de la prestation durant notre séjour.

Le Riad est très beau, décoré avec soin et on sent que l’attention est portée sur les détails. Il est très bien situé et le petit déjeuner est très bon.

Malheureusement nous avons eu quelques expériences désagréables qui ne correspondent pas à l’écrin haut de gamme du Riad. En effet nous avons réservé sur le site internet où l’on nous indiquait que le transfert depuis l’aéroport est compris pour un séjour de minimum deux nuits. Je contacte le Riad avant de réserver afin de m’assurer que c’est faisable pour eux étant donné que notre vol arrive tard (00:40). Ils m’ont confirmé le transfert et j’ai réservé. Arrivés à l’aéroport nous avons attendu près d’une heure devant en passant plusieurs fois devant les panneaux des différents hôtels pour trouver le nom du Riad, sans succès, l’aéroport se vidait petit à petit … je les ai contactés par e-mail puis nous avons appelés plusieurs fois le numéro indiqué sur leur site avant de réussir à réveiller le patron qui a contacté le chauffeur, sans succès, et nous a dis de prendre un taxi. Le lendemain celui-ci s’est excusé sans donner d’explication mais nous sommes tout de même arrivés à environ 2h30 au Riad. Nous avons payé le taxi, qui devait être initialement inclus dans la prestation, ainsi que des frais supplémentaires sur nos forfaits pour l’activation des data et les appels au Riad. Aucun geste de la part du Riad pour compenser. Par la suite, d’autres éléments nous ont parus désagréables : nous avons eu une bouteille d’eau dans la chambre à notre arrivée, mais pas plus. Nous avons demandé au patron si c’est possible pour le dernier matin de prendre le petit déjeuner un peu plus tôt car nous devions partir, il nous a dis qu’il n’y a pas de problèmes, en rentrant du dîner nous demandons au personnel présent si c’est toujours bon pour le petit déjeuner à 7h et il n’était pas au courant. Il nous a dit qu’il peut nous le laisser à emporter devant notre chambre dans un sac, mais sans café car ils n’ont pas de gobelets. De plus, nous avons pris une prestation au spa comprenant rituel hamam, massage et soin du visage. Nous avons été un peu déroutés par le rituel, on ne nous a pas expliqué réellement les étapes et en quoi ça consiste. Une dame est venue avec des sceaux en plastiques pour les remplir d’eau et nous avions un peu du mal à nous comprendre sur les différentes étapes. Le massage était très bien. Enfin, au moment du paiement on nous propose de payer soit en cash en dirham ou euros ou par carte, mais un supplément s’applique, dans notre cas près de 15 euros de plus. Nous aurions aimé le savoir avant afin de prévoir, ce n’est pas mentionné dans la confirmation de réservation. Au final, le personnel a accepté de ne pas appliquer ce supplément en payant par carte car nous lui avons dit que ça faisait beaucoup entre le transfert dont nous n’avions pas bénéficié et cette information de dernier moment sur les frais supplémentaires en payant par carte.

J’ai beaucoup hésité entre mettre 3 ou 4 étoiles car malgré ces incidents le Riad a beaucoup d’atouts et le personnel est très gentil mais nous sommes repartis avec un sentiment mitigé. Nous n’avons pas ressentis une attention particulière à notre égard.
