Hotel Livin Kathmandu — Hotel in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

This is a budget hotel, not a grand hotel, situated in Thamel, Kathmandu, Nepal. So, at first we must control our expectations.

I would like to classify this hotel as home. We have stayed there for four nights in January 2022 and amazed to see their hospitality.

You shouldn’t expect a flawless 5★ service from them. But they will certainly try to win your hearth with their service. They’ve won our hearts.

Certain things I must mention here,

You only get hot water in the morning. So plan your shower time accordingly. They arrange rtPCR test for foreign tourist. rtPCR test is done by Nepalese Government approved Lab. They serve complimentary breakfast, not many items or buffet but sufficient food (Bread- 2 slice, egg, fruits, butter, jelly and tea/coffee) for one person. Good internet connection. Rooftop has a seating arrangement. Owner (Mr. Saroj) is a very friendly person, you can ask for selecting visiting spots in nepal (if not certain about anything) and also he runs a travel company in nepal. Reception is managed by an amazingly helpful manager (Ms. Bhabna). She helped us with so many things like rtPCR test, airport drop and so many other things. They have storage facilities. You can leave your heavy luggages behind and travel lightly to your desired place in Nepal. We left our baggages with them and found the baggages completely fine and unharmed. They also serve Alcohol, but what type of alcohol they serve is unknown to me as I am not a consumer.

Personally, I would like to take their service if I visit to Nepal in future. I hope they will keep up...

We arrived in Kathmandu without a room booked. We wanted to find a basic room, but with all the utilities included, such as air conditioning, private bathroom, wifi, charging etc. To our surprise, many hotels did not even qualify for such simple requirements. However, Metro Inn had all of this in addition to a very good location at the heart of Thamel. Good thing is that the hotel was located on a less noisy backstreet. In addition, there was a very nice terrace on the 5th floor of the building accessible to anyone staying in the hotel. We spent every evening there. All of this at a very cheap price. At first I was skeptical because of a couple of bad reviews but the moment I entered the lobby, I felt like it was a wise decision to choose this place over other options. The staff were friendly and open to conversation, the food was lovely (although the entire menu was unavailable because of the covid crisis) and the rooms were exactly as they have shown in the photos.

Plus, the location favors a late night stroll through the streets of Thamel as well.

The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is its absence of parking space but the staff showed me an available parking space less than 5 mins away.
