I booked a solo trip from Thailand to Kathmandu without a plan of what to do while there. There were a few things I wanted to see but other than that I had no ideas. Fortunately I had booked a room at Hotel Yambu. It’s in the middle of all the shopping and restaurants and the breakfast is quite delicious. What really makes this hotel stand out is the staff. From the owner, Raj, who personally made sure he was there for my 11:30pm arrival, to the manager, Raja, and all the staff that made sure all of my needs were attended to. They really couldn’t seem to do enough to make sure I was comfortable.
After breakfast my first day, Raja sat with me for a while, asked about my interests, and helped me plan my 10 day stay. He handled everything from booking several tours (including an aerial tour of Mt. Everest - incredible!), to booking a round trip flight to Pokhara for a few days. All I had to do was wake up each day and everything else had been taken care of.
After our planning session, Raja took me to several local restaurants and spoke with the managers regarding my special dietary needs which ensured that I knew where I could go to eat - great restaurants too.
On my last day I was speaking to another guest who stays at the hotel during her repeated trips to Kathmandu over the past decade, and we both agreed that they treat their guests as family.
I highly recommend Hotel Yambu. The overall experience they provided me was the highlight of my...

Raj planned the entire itinerary of my trip on a short notice, and I was lucky to visit all the UNESCO spots in Kathmandu, such as Swayambu Temple, Patan Darbar, Bodhha Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple.
The following day the tour guide Rajendra drove me to Nagarkot for a beautiful sunrise. I trekked from Telkot to the Changu Narayan Temple , after which we went to Bhaktapur.
After 2 days, I visited Pokhara for 2 nights , during which I saw the sunrise at Sarangkot as well as the Shiva temple and the Buddha Stupa. The other places of interest are Tashiling Tibetan Camp, Devi Falls and the Gupteshwar Mahadev Cave.
After that I drove to Chitwan by bus and saw the sunset at Sauraha. The tip of the icing was the canoeing, jungle walk and elephant breeding ground followed by the jeep safari!
It was an exhilarating trip and Ian so glad I saw so much of Nepal thanks to the careful planning of Raj and his...
