I want to share the best experience I had in Kathmandu. While traveling through Nepal, I enjoyed exploring various local restaurants, and for my final activity, I decided to try a cooking class. Located in the heart of Thamel, this charming kitchen initially seemed almost hidden with its unassuming entrance, but once I climbed up to the rooftop, I was greeted with beautiful sunlight, a well-organized kitchen, and two incredibly kind and lively instructors for the day.
Three menu options were offered, and while I can’t speak for the others, I can confidently say that the dish I chose was the best version of it I’d ever had, even compared to other places I tried during my travels. If I visit Kathmandu again, I’ll definitely come back to try one of the other options.
I can’t go without mentioning our lovely instructors. I’ve attended cooking classes in a few countries, but I’ve never met teachers as warm and personable as these two. It wasn’t just about learning to cook—it was an opportunity to deepen my understanding of the culture, making the experience all the more delightful.
Even though I’m naturally shy and not very confident in my English, which often makes conversations challenging, by the end of the class, I realized I’d already fallen in love with them.
It was such a joyful time, and if you ever find yourself with three free hours in Thamel, I can’t recommend this class enough.

Read moreMy husband and I had such a wonderful time at the momo making class with Sabita and Sushila! They were warm, welcoming, and kind from the moment we arrived and made us feel very comfortable. The class was excellent - they were sure to carefully walk us through every step, answered all of our questions, and were so helpful and patient showing us the momo folding techniques! The momos were also the best veg momos we have had in Nepal! The cooking space is very nice up on the rooftop, clean, and conveniently located in Thamel. I also appreciated that they messaged us the day before to confirm our dietary preferences and make sure that we had all the information we needed. We are excited to make momos at home with the recipe they sent over to us after the class :) Everything about this experience was top-notch, I would...
Read moreWhat a fun cooking class! All the instructors were such lovely women. Everything was so delicious and the organisation was perfect. Especially I liked the preparation of momos. They were really patient with me showing the different techniques over and over again. During the meals we had some dancing breaks and danced to Nepali music with the instructors all together which was so much fun! As a vegan it was no problem to find delicious vegan options to cook. Only thing would be: I would have been happy to also try milk masala tea. It would have been nice if there would be soya or oat...
