Sufficient for bare-bones stay with VERY close access to the action on the Leidse Plein. Access is easy with the tram stop a stone's throw away. Don't even think about driving a car into the city center and parking here. If you absolutely must then ask the staff about whether you can park there. This hotel has very much a "hostel" feel to it in that it has a bed, shower, toilet/bathroom and nothing more. If you don't need luxury then this is the place for you. Off-season stay (middle of May) on a Sunday and Monday night for €240 for 3 people. Staff was friendly and helpful. Spoken language was English. If mobility impared in ANY way, you may want to look elsewhere or maybe ensure you are on the bottom floor as the stairs are incredibly steep and narrow as is often the case with Amsterdam Grachten/Heren panden (canal houses). You will NOT have handicap access to upper floors, unless I missed something obvious. Check out is 11:00 and late check out is possible for €8 an hour, up to 3 hours (max). I rated 3 out 5 stars because it is minimalist in every way but I have no complaints. It suited our needs and as I said, the staff addressed all our concerns with a smile.

This is a very basic accommodation that is the next step up from a hostel or dormitory style places. It is an old building with a number of rooms dedicated to guests. My room had two twin beds, a television, Nespresso machine, hairdryer and its own bathroom and shower. The staff was very helpful in explaining the city layout and how to get around cheaply. While does not have the best views, it is located close to many attractions like the Rijksmuseum, Heineken experience and a number of restaurants and bars. The place is cleaned daily though sometimes you have to navigate the bags of sheets left on the stairwells. Additionally, the stairs are quite steep and the steps are very narrow. People with larger feet should pay particular attention. Finally, if you arrive after hours, you must go to another hotel nearby (Hotel Marnix) to check in. Again, this is a good place for the price, especially if you do not want to share a room with 4-10 strangers.

the staff were lovely and the rooms were spotless the only down fall was the marks on the walls, and the mattress was completely stained. They could at least have a mattress protecter on top. Also there was a few random people that would come in the halls and talk which was very annoying, as the bottom floor was reception and then you have to go outside to go to the top floor for the rooms. Also it was a bonus having the high street right round the corner.

My experience at the Hotel Amsterdam Inn had both positives and negatives, but I cannot recommend this stay for the vast majority of people.

Positives: Location: this stay was in a great location and was very walkable to the majority of places we wanted to visit. Staff: the staff at the front were very kind and helpful, and were responsive to our communication. They also helped us bring our bags up the incredibly steep stairs

Negatives: Stairs: The primary reason that this stay is not somewhere I can recommend to many people is because the steep and narrow stairs (with no elevator) make this hotel really inaccessible. Both my friend and I had heavy checked bags, and had to ask for help to get them up the stairs. I really appreciated that the staff at the front desk helped us with our bags, but I don’t think there’s any room at this hotel that would be accessible for some folks with physical disabilities. The stairs were honestly so steep and narrow, it was comical. We asked for a room on the lower floor, but none were available.

Room cleanliness: my goodness, it was bad. When we first arrived, there was a lot of dust on the floor, a weird stain on the wall by the bed, the bathroom smelled really gross and was super dirty, the shower curtain was moldy, and we were really uncomfortable. The next day, we told reception and they were very kind and said that someone would clean deeply that day. I do believe they tried their best, but I think the room needs a much deeper cleaning than can be accomplished in an hour.

I really don’t like complaining, especially since the staff were so kind and the rates were lower than many, but I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone except maybe folks who want a private version of something similar to a hostel. I see potential in this hotel if they were able to remodel, deep clean, and add an elevator, but I don’t necessarily think that’s going to happen any time soon. They were completely booked for the time we were there, so maybe this hotel works for a lot of people! However, if we had another opportunity to make the choice, we would’ve made a different one...

after booking to stay in the king hotel we arrived to find they had doubled booked us but they told us not worry they had put us in a much better quality hotel for the inconvience. however when she took us round we were greated by friendly staff and two ankle bitting dogs. our room was not ready so we asked if we could wait as he only had to hoover it we were shown into this room which had a great big no smoking sign on the door yet we found our selves sitting next to a full ashtray. 1 hour later of sitting in this filthy dirty room which we can only describe as the lounge and breakfast area.watching cnn and thinking shall we offer to help hoover the room. in the end we asked what was going on with the room. we were placed on the third floor up the steepest stairs known to man. once we got in the room we found that we had a bed, tv, cabinet and 2 dining room chairs. so as we started to get settled we found the tv only one channel and that was in black and white and not tuned in, the tv cabinet had empty beercans, crisp packets and just pure filth in there. remember this is after he had been in room for an hour supposedly hoovering. after a hard days walking around amsterdam we were ready to chill and settle for the night. the shower had no curtain and as for the lights in bedroom we would of had more light from candles. how romantic. after laying on the bed watching our one channel in black and white, my husband moves everso slightly and i then turn round to find him practically on the floor as the bed had collasped. its a good thing he is good at diy as he had to dismantled and rebuild this bed. after a painful nights sleep we were woken to the smell of sewage coming from our leaky toilet. We didnt even attempt breakfast as we thought we might get dog hair in it. we left and got half our money back and booked into this fantastic 3 star hotel round the corner from the marriott for 89euros...

The hotel itself is smelly, the reception consists of cheap old plastic furniture. The stairs is covered by a carpet that is worn through so you can see the underlying staircase. Everything is dirty and smelly. Breakfast is included in the price, I skipped that one voluntarily, considering the standard of everything else in the hotel I definitely do not want to eat something there. I never saw any other guests there, my guess is that the people that book this hotel either immediately leave the hotel and go somewhere else (and hence have to pay for 2 hotels since you have to pay in advance for your room when you book it on the phone), or they do what I did: Pack all valuables in the knapsack and immediately leave the hotel and try to stay out as long as possible since you definitely want to spend as little time as possible in this hotel.||||It is obvious that the hotel room has been broken into several times, and the hotel owners have tried to prevent that it would happen again by attaching a metal frame.||The metal frame is severely bent from the front side of the doors and it looks like there have been attempts to break in after the metal frame was there.|||| The shower in the room was totally rotten and stinks, I never used it. The toilet is not in the room, its down the hallway, with a door that leaves a 8 cm gap if you try to close it and it STINKS from urine. I used the toilets at Burger King during daytime, rather than going into the hotel's disgusting toilet. ||||This pillow was probably white once upon a time, I do not want to know where all the spots comes from, nor how many unidentified kinds of animals that lives in the pillow. The rest of the bed sheets were full of holes, but looked at least clean. The blankets and pillows were disgusting. I used my...
