THE ROOMS ARE INFESTED WITH BEDBUGS. I came with my family (5 people) for 3 days. When we arrived we saw that the room was not the cleanest thing in the world, there was a lot of dust, but we decided to keep quiet. We didn't notice anything during the first night, but when I woke up I had a small blood stain both on the bed where I slept and on my pyjamas. I couldn't explain what it was, so I forgot about it. When we woke up on the second day, I found a bug in my bed that I squashed and it exploded in blood. I had just found my second bed bug, having inadvertently squashed the first one during the first night. In another bed we found two more bed bugs, making a total of 4 (at least the ones we did see). We decided to go down to reception that morning and asked for a complaint form but the receptionist (in a very arrogant and unpleasant manner) assured us that such things did not exist in the Netherlands. We wanted to talk to the person in charge of the hotel but the receptionist gave us the runaround and assured us that as it was the weekend he did not know when the manager would arrive. The only solution he offered us was to change rooms or make a ridiculous check out despite the fact that we still had to spend one more night in that disastrous place. We had to settle for the former and they gave us a room in the basement with a small window that barely let any light in. We didn't find any bedbugs in that room, but that doesn't rule out the possibility of bedbugs. From what we have seen, the hotel has had a bedbug problem since at least 2009. I have suffered dozens of bites all over my body that I have had to treat, and not only that, WHEN WE RETURNED WE FOUND A BEDBUG IN OUR HOUSE. We had to disinfect all the clothes, the beds, the sofa and the chairs and hope that there were no more anywhere in a process that cost us a lot of money and time. This hotel is FULLY AWARE OF THEIR BED BUGS but cares little or nothing about people being bitten or taking bed bugs home. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. The good location is not worth the suffering and discomfort of bed bugs. Ignore any positive reviews of this place and spend your money on something better. We will never return to this "hotel".

BED BUGS. Yes, my hotel room had BED BUGS. I had the unfortunate experience during my 7 night stay at the Hotel City Garden in Amsterdam. During my stay I had been bitten all over my body. I raised my concern and reported to the hotel staff on multiple occasions and the staff members were less than compassionate or understanding as this happened over a series of nights. I requested that the bed, mattress, pillows, everything regarding the bed to be inspected and cleaned. I even showed my bite marks to the staff as proof that I was being serious. However, this situation was not resolved as I woke up in the middle of the night uncomfortable and discovered bed bugs on the bed, pillow, blankets and mattress. Attached are photos of the bed bugs as well as bites on my body. I immediately contacted the staff and was given the option to get a refund for only the remainder of my stay and leave and look for other accommodations, or receive a different room to stay. In the middle of the night, these weren’t equitable options for a problem sustained by this hotel. This is unacceptable and unreasonable. I had paid for 7 nights to sleep in a clean, safe environment. I spoke to their supposed manager Eric Zhao to request compensation for this incident and he says that I have to email them because they do not provide refunds or credit on the spot. Clearly, this is very suspicious business behavior. I emailed their hotel’s reservation as well as the corporate departments of Win Hotel. The response email I received from the hotel was that I needed to provide my banking information in order to receive compensation. I refused. I told them I refuse to provide sensitive information and that the funds are to be credit it back to my credit card, which was how I booked my hotel stay. Long story short, I’m working with my bank to get my refund. Overall, do not stay at Hotel City Garden in Amsterdam because: 1. BED BUGS and 2. TERRIBLE customer service. You have been warned.

Well I haven't been able to get much sleep by night because of the fact that the main entrance to the hotel is just outside my room and when people get home late night and have been drinking they're not specially quiet. That's not on the plus side! Also the room is in the basement and therefore (in my case) not specially much light from the two very small windows and there are spiders in the room (luckily I am not afraid of them). And when people are standing outside my room and are smoking cigarettes or cannabis you can smell it in the room. The breakfast which is included in the price (in my case) is okay. Not too much and not too little. Very good coffee and juice by the way :-) I would be able to give one more star if the room was placed on the other side of hotel (where the garden is) where it is much more quiet and more lights. Even one extra star if the room wasn't placed in the basement. Finally if the hotel should have five stars, beside the two cases I have pointed out, the breakfast would have more things to choose between. Will I recommend this hotel to anyone else? YES ABSOLUTELY! Just if you don't get a room same place as where I have been living. Ask for a room which is not placed in the basement or even better ask for a room placed on the side where the garden is (not on the side with the road and main entrance). The staff are very friendly and helpful and as a extra service you can drink as much coffee as you want for free in the reception. The cleaning is really great by the way.
