I have stayed in this “hotel” for three nights and can definitely not recommend it. Even before we arrived, it did not make a good impression. When I called them to ask a question, I got the response “I guess you have to trust my word” and the person hung up. When I booked, I put my credit card details into their system. Two days before I arrived, I received an invoice asking to pay the amount - four and a half months after I have booked. When I called the next day, they told me we could go over it when I arrived. One day before my arrival, I received another invoice which was 40€ higher that what I have booked for because the hotel miscalculated the city tax. Again, this was four and a half months after I have booked and only the day before I arrived. That way I was not given the opportunity to cancel or to find another accommodation.
When you get into the hotel, you enter a cocktail bar. The bar is quite busy at nights, so it feels weird to pass by the visitors and go through a back door to get to you room. Our room had some trash on the floor, the shower was calcified and it felt more like a hostel than a boutique hotel. When I pointed that out to the owners, I was told that it will be taken care of - well, nothing happened… The bathrooms were really not what you would expect - this is probably also why they do not have pictures of them online. Given the price we had to pay, it was audacious with everything going on.
In correspondence with the hotel owners, I said that it cannot be the case that one day they ask me to pay more than I have booked for because they made a mistake and did not find it until one day before arrival. They were not forthcoming at all, did not apologise for the inconvenience (which is honestly a must in the hospitality industry) and did not even think about making up for the mistake. I ended up paying for the mistake the hotel did so our stay would not be ruined and I did not even receive a “thank you”…
To say something positive as well: The location is very central, the bed is comfortable and the two people taking care of the breakfast were very kind.
However, given the experience I have made, I can not recommend you to stay at this location when you visit Amsterdam. It is way too expensive for...
Read moreAs someone else mentioned, this hotel is not awful, but I will never stay here again. They have a good idea with the bed and breakfast thing. The execution needs to be better. The breakfast is great. Really friendly and warm kitchen staff. Check in is clunky. The person at the bar seemed surprised to see me. The room I stayed in was old, but not in the charming way it was intended. Just kind of creepy and weird. Again, they TRY by putting in a coffee machine, having free snacks and robes. All great, but the bed was absolutely awful. It was the weird single beds that they just push together. Which I get is fairly normal in Europe. The mattress was SO hard, I could have slept on the floor and felt no difference. It just feels like it’s trying to be a boutique hotel. The downstairs is obviously much newer than the rooms. If the two matched it would be great. Stairs are vertical. Might as well just use a ladder. The staff is very helpful with bags, but I can’t imagine if someone is even a little drunk. room will be VERY loud all night if you are canal facing. They put a sound machine, but I used ear plugs walking through the bar seems fun, but it’s not. It’s a popular cute bar, but I missed traditional hotel lobbies. I interacted with the female owner once, she was very nice. I hope she gets this place up to its full potential by...
Read moreWe have just spent a long weekend at Rosalia’s. This is a lovely, quirky B&B. We were greeted warmly and our luggage was carried up to our room. We were given a quick tour of our room and instructions for A/C and WiFi etc. We stayed on the top floor, courtyard side. Yes, the stairs are incredibly steep! Our room was kitted out with reused/upcycled furniture. The bed was very comfy, bathroom was clean and shower was good. The fridge was stocked daily with soft drinks and snacks and there was a kettle and coffee machine. I was a little concerned about noise as the area is bustling and vibrant. I needn’t have worried as it was peaceful being at the top and back of the building. It was a very warm weekend and the A/C was greatly appreciated. Breakfast was fantastic - fresh fruit, granola and yoghurt to start. Freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee. Eggs and bacon then croissant with jam, butter and chocolate spread. Certainly kept us going for a day of sightseeing.|We stayed for cocktails a couple of times and they were lovely - very boozy. |Rosalia’s was a perfect base and very central for all our sightseeing. 10-15 to the station and within comfortable walking distances of the museums and shops. There are cafes and restaurants everywhere so no shortage of...
