Kippilaw-House — Hotel in South Island

Kippilaw House was a welcome rest and respite homestay after hiking Queen Charlotte track. It is a brisk 5min walk to the main shopping streets of picturesque Picton, with the quirky somewhat vintage decor usually sought and preferred by my wife. We had the entire upper floor, bedroom, large bathroom and sitting room. We only stayed one night and would have liked more time to explore Picton and surrounds with Kippilaw Hse as our base. Margaret and Bill were very interesting and attentive hosts, making sure we were most welcome, as did the dear alert terriers in residence. The breakfast, made with care, was more than most would eat, satisfying, with light pastries and the freshest white peach, strawberry, apricot and berries mixture ever, straight from local orchards not the supermarket. I say that as one who rarely eats fruit. Margaret also custom made a tasty mushroom and cheese omelette. Overall, highly recommended for any visitors to picturesque Picton seeking a personalised homestay bed and breakfast. Well done...

We arrived at kippilaw house and was greeted by bill and 2 lively but very friendly Terriers |We were staying in the Picton Suite and what a lovely very large comfortable Room with a lovely large walk in shower.|Every comfort was there.|Even a lounge across from our room for our exclusive use ..Margaret is the most welcoming host and fantastic chef , breakfast were some of the very best .and we had dinner on 1 evening which I must say was amazing ..Bill is most attentive ,we really enjoyed talking to them , and the dogs were loving the pats and head scratches . Simply 1st class thankyou...

We chose Kippilaw House to stay to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.The hosts Margaret and Bill were so obliging and could not do enough for us. We had a private meal in our spacious room which had all modern facilities ,ensuite and sitting room included.The 4 course meal was superb and as good as you would get in a 5 star restaurant, a very nice bottle of wine included,. We also had a 3 course breakfast next morning with the same high standard of food. We cannot rate Kippilaw house highly enough...
