Upon arrival, the reception staff already gave us a warm welcome and was able to arrange our check-in booking request because we arrived earlier than expected. The studio apartment room that we booked was readily available that time. Eventhough the room that we booked didn't have a view, the location of the hotel will not disappoint you. Try to step outside- literally in front of the hotel, you'll get a picturesque mountain view! 📸🏔💕 In addition to the view, the hotel is at the heart of the town- very easily accessible to nearby places (e.g. 4mins drive to Airport; 18mins drive to Queenstown CBD; 19mins drive to Arrowtown) depending on your destination during your trip, I can say that we really got the perfect place to stay and start our trip.||||Everything that was described on room amenities and hotel facilities are exactly as it is.||We like the kitchenette with basic appliances for food prep&cooking, as well as coffee/tea/hot choco counter. We saved $$$ by cooking and eating breakfast at our room before heading towards our itinerary of the day. Aside from breakfast meals, we also managed to cook steak for our dinner 🥩🤍||||What we really love is the laundry+dryer inside our room. 💕 We left the hotel without any dirty clothes in our luggage! Lols 🤣 (talk about saving time when you get back at your home without worrying to do laundry after your holiday! Hehe 😊😅🤣) ||||The only downside is the LIMITED FREE parking space-first come first serve basis for hotel guest (especially after late night hours, starting after 11pm).||||Otherwise, there is a PAY PARKING onsite, just literally across the back side of the hotel (few steps only) . So, if paying a parking space is not an issue for you, then you can opt for this (*which we did a couple of times and didn't regret any of it - being up late at night, we managed to maximize our holiday trip exploring the town and totally worth it 😄💕 We only paid 10NZD/24hrs each time we got home after 11pm).||||So, either go home earlier than 11pm and secure a free parking space or opt for the pay parking. 😊||||Overall, we can say that we have a superb hotel experience during our stay. Thank you for the amazing service that your team rendered to us, from check-in to check-out. We really had a wonderful holiday trip at Queenstown 🍂🍁 Thank you for being part of my 🎂 birthday holiday getaway with my "then boyfriend" (now fiancé 💕 we just got...
Read moreOkay, lot to talk about. First impressions count. Reception put me off immediately, 2nd staff member without referring to anything, finding 'something' amusing and our receptionist pretending there wasn't some behind the scenes joke. Seriously, grow up & treat people with some respect. Yes, after a 4 hr hike starting in the dark & a two hour drive, I no doubt was looking a little frazzled but if you haven't seen a lot worse you have lived a privileged life. So you started by offending me & don't pretend it didn't happen, without saying a word to my husband, he ( not your staff) was apologizing to me in the lift. We were polite paying guests, what was so amusing?. Parking: in our booking we specifically requested "Parking". Specifically pointed it out. So in 6 months you couldn't email us to outline that the 'parking' was a hit & miss affair? Poor. Kawarau River can't be seen from the hotel, I suppose maybe if you were on the top floor, at the front? We were relegated to the back of the hotel overlooking the carpark on the first floor so I couldn't tell you. By the way, the building size cross 'lighting' on the Salvation Army building behind, blasts light into your room ( those overlooking carpark) but I can assure you that it does go out between 2am & 6am. Plumbing is a nightmare as per previous posts, water flushing noise all night. I think it was the air con as we turned it off in frustration. We booked the smaller room as we figured we would be sleeping mostly & despite booking for 2 & there being a KS bed, there was only one stool / seat so eating our takeaway dinner, one of us was perched on the bed. We opted for takeaway even though we would have much preferred a lovely dinner out because of the "if you go out & lose your park, you will have to park in the next street & pay". Walking streets at night, Tacky. If you go for a walk to see Kawarau River, be very careful across the road, feral rabbit holes everywhere & you will easily do an ankle not to mention the track is covered in rabbit faeces. So overall, I think I have said enough but it is a definate no from myself. By the way, the room attendants - lovely young guys, cheerful and the room was...

Mixed bag really - first room ( mountin view ) - there was a damp odour from the aircon, and a big pile of dirty laundry left in the corner of the room... I was moved to a new room ( suite ) ...unfortunatley this room has a sound like an old gurgling fridge emanating from the ceiling - I was moved again..The chap at reception was most polite aplogetic and gracious. The new room (Suite) was fine - except for the bathroom floor was dirty, with washing powder around the washing machine ... but otherwise clean.
What really spoiled the experience was the rude and ungracious manager/owner at the end of the stay.
My car was ticketed in the guest carpark for not displaying my parking card ... it had slipped forward under a tinited section of my windscreen. I took the ticket to reception and explained what had happened... and was met with a condescending and impatient 'this is the third time this morning' attitude from the manager whilst lecturing me and asking me 'why do you think we instructed you to put it there'. It was not explained to me there was an parking enforcement agency issuing tickets in the guest car park. I would have expected reception would be queried if there was a car suspected of being in the wrong place - in case a paying guest had made a mistake, or an event took place such as mine. I was asked to provide my car details at check in - so a quick check would have sorted this out before a ticket was issued.
Whilst the manager eventually and reluctantly agreed to sort out the ticket, I certainly wasn't made to feel like a valued customer, just a nuisance - she seemed to overlook the fact I was paying her money and might need to stay in Queestown again.
I am staying in Queenstown 2 days a week for the next 5 weeks, then monthly thereafter. I will not be booking La Quinta again.
This lady/manager/owner needs to learn a few customer service lessons before she is stands anywhere near the front desk.
Customers make mistakes, but they are still customers, and we are not limited for choice in this town.
